McGuffin also appeals to Austin to protect his son's claim while he is visiting his father's home - flooding has delayed his return to Texas. Finally, McGuffin informs Austin of his plans to send his second eldest son to the colony as well, and asks Austin to look over both of them.

Copy of transcript for a letter from Ira Ingram to Stephen F. Austin, in which Ingram informs Austin of his father-in-law, brother-in-law and his own intentions to settle in Texas. Ingram also specifies which leagues each man would prefer and requests that Austin do whatever is in his power to secure those lands.

Copy of transcript for a letter from J. Cable to Col. Stephen F. Austin, in which Cable informs Austin of his personal and financial misfortunes in Louisiana. Cable also informs Austin that Major C. H. Sims, Cable's colleague, has plans to visit the colony in order to settle there and to confirm a land title on Cable's behalf. Finally, cable asks for Austin's assurance that the land he previously procured is still available.

Copy of transcript for a letter from John C. Walker to Stephen F. Austin, in which Walker requests Austin's opinion on the probability of making a living as a clerk in Texas. Walker also inquires about the whereabouts and well being of James E. B. Austin, with whom he has been friends for many years. Walker has heard conflicting rumors about James E. B. Austin's death.

Copy of transcript for a letter from Micah Flint to Stephen F. Austin, in which Flint informs Austin of his desires to travel to Mexico and requests introductions to anyone that could be of assistance during the journey. Flint also provides a reference for James Ruggles.

Copy of transcript for a letter from T. Jefferson Chambers to Stephen F. Austin, in which Chambers informs Austin that the real estate business is improving and the natives are buying large tracts of land. Chambers also asks Austin's opinion on including descriptions of water courses on the land titles.
