Automatic trend detection: Time-biased document clustering (open access)

Automatic trend detection: Time-biased document clustering

This article presents a novel approach of introducing a weighted temporal feature to bias a topic clustering toward articles in a similar time frame, performed over a set of finance journal abstracts from 1974 to 2020 to demonstrate how time can be emphasized in trend detection. The authors detect trending finance topics that are not identifiable when we use a standard clustering approach with no temporal bias.

Quantitative Studies of Inhibitors of ADP-ribosylation in Vitro and in Vivo (open access)

Quantitative Studies of Inhibitors of ADP-ribosylation in Vitro and in Vivo

Article evaluating the selectivity of compounds originally identified as inhibitors of poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase on members of the three classes of enzymes. The results suggest that micromolar levels of the benzamides in the culture medium should allow selective inhibition of poly(ADP-ribose) metabolism in intact cells. Furthermore, comparative quantitative inhibition studies should prove useful for assigning the biological effects of these inhibitors as an effect on either poly(ADP-ribose) or mono(ADP-ribose) metabolism.

Formation and Photoinduced Electron Transfer in Porphyrin- and Phthalocyanine-Bearing N-Doped Graphene Hybrids Synthesized by Click Chemistry (open access)

Formation and Photoinduced Electron Transfer in Porphyrin- and Phthalocyanine-Bearing N-Doped Graphene Hybrids Synthesized by Click Chemistry

Article presents research where N-doped graphene (NG) has been covalently decorated with porphyrin and phthalocyanine moieties using click chemistry. Evidence of charge separation in these hybrids is secured from femtosecond transient absorption studies, acting NG as electron acceptor.

Mechanisms of Social Interaction and Virtual Connections as Strong Predictors of Wellbeing of Older Adults (open access)

Mechanisms of Social Interaction and Virtual Connections as Strong Predictors of Wellbeing of Older Adults

Article examining the domains of social determinants of health, specifically the social and community context per Healthy People 2030 objectives. These mechanisms of social interaction, in the form of group activities, community engagement, and virtual interactions via email or text message, were assessed using hierarchical regression analysis to find out their association with wellbeing, depression symptoms, and cognition of older adults.
