A self-powered wireless motion sensor based on a high-surface area reverse electrowetting-on-dielectric energy harvester

Article presents a motion-sensing device with the capability of harvesting energy from low-frequency motion activities. Based on the high surface area reverse electrowetting-on-dielectric (REWOD) energy harvesting technique, mechanical modulation of the liquid generates an AC signal, which is modeled analytically and implemented in Matlab and COMSOL.

Nuclear Safety Testing and Analysis Research (NSTAR) Fellowship Program at the University of North Texas (open access)

Nuclear Safety Testing and Analysis Research (NSTAR) Fellowship Program at the University of North Texas

Data management plan for the grant "Nuclear Safety Testing and Analysis Research (NSTAR) Fellowship Program at the University of North Texas." The proposed NSTAR fellowship program at UNT aims to reinforce the workforce in the nuclear energy safety community by engaging the selected fellowship students (fellows) with interdisciplinary education and research. The overarching theme and research focus of the proposed NSTAR program is acoustics-based non-destructive testing and analysis and nanoparticle processing for thermal management applications. An interdisciplinary research team will investigate these research areas with backgrounds in mechanical engineering, material science, and/or physics. The program will fully support two fellows over four years including full tuition and stipends.

Infrared radiative switching with thermally and electrically tunable transition metal oxides-based plasmonic grating (open access)

Infrared radiative switching with thermally and electrically tunable transition metal oxides-based plasmonic grating

Article says that plasmonic and phase transition has been blended to gain the infrared radiative switching which is tunable with temperature or voltage supply. This is applied via vanadium dioxide, tungsten trioxide, and molybdenum trioxide as transition metal oxides (TMO), the authors state that the work expands the usage of transition metal oxides in infrared region with larger contrast.

Fiberboard Made from Scrap Denim: Characterization of its Properties by Effective Bulk Modulus Elastography (open access)

Fiberboard Made from Scrap Denim: Characterization of its Properties by Effective Bulk Modulus Elastography

Article describes how fiberboards from scrap denim were fabricated using two different resins, melamine urea formaldehyde (MUF) and polymeric methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (pMDI). Resin content and MUF-pMDI weight ratio were studied. Physical and mechanical tests determined the modulus of elasticity (MOE), modulus of rupture (MOR), internal bond (IB), thickness swell (TS), and water absorption (WA).
