Tree House at the Denton Public Library

Joella Orr (standing), Clema Perry (seated, on left), and Mae McKnight (seated, on right) pose with books in the tree house at the Denton Public Library. This photo was taken prior to the opening of the tree house. Construction was funded by members of the Denton Garden Culture Club. Mrs. Harold E. Perry was the club president and Mrs. F. W. McKNight was the clubs' project chairman. Joella Orr was the director of the Emily Fowler Library. The tree house was designed by Betty Robertson.

Denton Ariel Club's "Art Day" Program

The program lists the scheduled performances by members of the Denton Ariel Club's, Art Department during Art Day on March 4, 1912. The "Art Day" was held at the home of Mrs. L. H. Schweer and performances include "The Merry Wives of Windsor," "Forget Me Not," "Oh Nightingale," and others. The programs for the afternoon were hand-painted bluebonnets on the cover done in watercolor with gold leaf accents. The program inside was done in gold lettering.

Announcement about the schedule, tuition, and courses of Denton School in Denton, Texas in the year 1884. The announcement also contains a list of faculty and information about the city of Denton. Denton's first public school began on March 17 and ended on July 4. The first session had 425 students. [A History of the Denton Independent School District: a centennial project / by the centennial committee, 1985] The name Lee Preston is written in pen on the back of the announcement. Lee Preston was a teacher and later, mayor of Denton.
