Protection of Nonmetallic Aircraft From Lightning 3: Electrical Effects in Glider Towlines
Report presenting an exploration of the electrical effects that glider tows operating in or near a thunderstorm may experience. The three primary hazards are a direct lightning strike, a lightning strike that passes to some intermediate point on the towline, and an electrical current of appreciable magnitude flowing in the towline the whole time that the tow is within a few miles of the thunderstorm.

Protection of Nonmetallic Aircraft From Lightning 4: Electrocution Hazards From Inductive Voltages
Report presenting tests made on an XCG-7 all-wood glider on a PT-19A training airplane with a tubular metal fuselage and wooden wings by passing electrical surges simulating lightning discharges through the aircraft and measuring the voltage induced between various points which might be touched by an occupant. While certain recommendations for electrical protection are provided, the personnel in a metal fuselage aircraft are reasonably well protected from induced voltage shock without other protection.

SNAP 7D: stronium-90 fueled thermoelectric generator power source, thirty-watt U.S. Navy Floating Weather Station, final report
The objectives of the SNAP-7D program were to design, manufacture, test and deliver a thirty-watt electric generating system for a modified U.S. Navy NOMAD-class weather buoy to be stationed in the Gulf of Mexico. The sixty-watt Strontium-90 thermoelectric generator, the relay panel, the batteries, and the installation of the system in a boat-type buoy are described. In addition to delivering the power supply, many tests were required for the SNAP-7D system to demonstrate its conformance to the contract statement of work.

Thorium Bismuthide : Ultrasonic Control of Crystal Size
Thorium bismuthide when crystallized from a solution i bismuth results in large platelets which may be as large a 1 centimeter in diameter. A slurry of these platelets is difficult to pump through pipe lines and filters. The particle size can be reduced by (1) very rapid cooing (approximately 1000 degree C per second) or (2) ultrasonic treatment. The latter, much easier to attain in large scale, gives equiaxed particles of thorium bismuthide.
