Pumping Station for Teche-Vermilion Basins, Atchafalaya River, Louisiana: Hydraulic Model Investigation

Abstract: The model study was conducted to evaluate the characteristics of flow in the inlet channel, original sump, energy dissipator (saxophone outlet), and outlet channel and to develop practical modifications required for improving the hydraulic performance of the structure.

Weir Jetty Performance: Hydraulic and Sedimentary Considerations: Hydraulic Model Investigation

Final report regarding studies of weir jetties as an alternative for jetty design at tidal inlets. "The hydraulic model investigation was performed to study important design parameters for a weir jetty system including weir length, elevation, orientation with respect to the shoreline and the conventional portion of the jetty structure, tidal currents over the weir section, flow patterns in the vicinity of the weir section, sediment movement over the weir and effects of the weir jetty on accretion, and erosion upcoast of the jetty system" (abstract, para. 2).

Kissimmee River Structures, Central and Southern Florida Flood Control Project: Hydraulic Model Investigation

Abstract: Kissimmee River structures S-65E, S-65D, and S-65B were reproduced in a 1:20 scale model in order to study ways of eliminating scour of the downstream riprap blankets by means of structural modifications of operating procedures.
