A handwritten invitation addressed to the Junior Class dated March 13, 1914 to attend an "oyster" meal. This item was originally part of a scrapbook assembled by Thomas Norwood Carswell, largely containing items related to his time at Simmons College (Abilene, Texas).

The minutes of the Hardin-Simmons University Building Committee meeting held on March 13 by E. W. Ledbetter, Secretary-Treasurer. The minutes include a list of recommendations by The Building Committee to be made to the Board of Trustees regarding the enlargement and improvement of Hardin-Simmons University. The names of the men on the committee include Mr. O. D. Dillingham, Mr. George S. Anderson, Dr. R. N. Richardson, Mr. Jake Sandefer, Mr. Leroy Jennings and Mr. George Foster.

A letter of complaint addressed to Major [John W.] Lipscomb from the wife of a registrant in Van Horn, Texas dated March 13, 1944. The letter includes an advisement to Lipscomb of having written to him previously and having received no answer regarding an unfit board member noting that the board member has been "drunk for the past week now".

A letter written to T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from J. B. Allcorn, Comanche, Texas, dated March 13, 1942. Allcorn congratulates Carswell on his election confiding that he knew nothing about the race including Carswell's name being on the ballot until he had started for the Legion hall.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas from J. Walter Hammond, President Texas Farm Bureau Federation, Waco, Texas, dated March 13, 1945. Hammond expresses his appreciation for the kind letter from Carswell advising that he knew of Carswell's activities even back to his school days, of his honesty, integrity and sincerety of purpose. He states, "I can truthfully say that because of your efforts the world is a better place in which to live".

A letter addressed to the State Director from the wife of a registrant in Van Horn, Texas, dated March 13, 1944. The letter includes a complaint made regarding a board member in Culberson County and an advisement that two letters written previously to Major [John W.] Lipscomb have not been answered.

A letter addressed to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Walter H. McKenzie, Executive Secretary, United Texas Drys, dated March 13, 1944. McKenzie refers to writing and asking a question but that, in reply, Carswell only acknowledged his receipt of the letter and the suggestion made. He requests an answer from Carswell, to write about how he feels, regarding joining up with him. The reverse side includes a printed map titled "Local Option Status of Texas by Precincts, Status as of December 31, 1943.
