Rushing wrote about the whereabouts of Charles' brother and sister, Henry and Sabina, and of the violence in Izard County, Arkansas. Rushing reports that his two eldest daughters and their husbands are dead. He then describes how Union sympathizers are seeking a new constitution in Arkansas. Rushing concludes with his ideas about the Civil War being a race war and that non-white races must be forced out of the country. Charles Moore then adds a conclusion, lamenting the state of things.

This is a letter from the Charles B. Moore Collection. It is from Sally Thornhill and is addressed to Mary Ann Moore. In this letter, Thornhill informs Moore of the goings-on in Goodlettsville, TN. The news includes: a confirmation on receiving her letter as well as Mary J. Thornhill's letter, details about Kate's buggy, news from Alice Wright about her mother's health, a discussion about her health, agricultural updates on crops and poultry, news on the health of family and friends as well as deaths in the community, a discussion bout Eula Thornhill's newborn baby, and a dialogue about the aging and decline in health of their favorite family horse. Sally begins a second letter dated February 2, 1909. In this letter, Thornhill discusses Vera and Nilla, details that she has yet to hear from Tom Jackson, and updates Mary Ann on the on-going bad weather. She closes the letter by noting that she always love to hear from Linnet or Mary and that they should write her soon.

He apologizes to Claude for not replying to his postal card earlier due to a prolonged illness. He closes the letter by noting that he hopes for a reply soon and sends his love to Mary Ann Moore and to Linnet White. The envelope is included with the letter.

Letter from Birdie McKinley to Mrs. Moore, Claude and Linnet White, and Wilie. talks about the weather and how everyone is doing. He wants to send Birdie to visit them since they aren't coming to Tennessee. He says that a lot has happened recently, the National Bank got robbed. He hopes they like Fort Worth. He talks about the baby Mary Louise. He bought something by the head rather than by the pound, and hopes to make some money off of it. He asks about Ruth and Frank asks about her too. He took pictures of Lillian and he will send some pictures and one of the cabin they were going to stay in. Birdie hopes they are settled into their new house in Fort Worth. She says they are all doing well. She talks about her baby and how Frank adores her. She also mentions the bank being robbed. If the fire hadn't been put out they would not have known the bank was robbed. She says she is slower at sewing, but the children do take up a lot of her time. Especially Harry who has been sick all winter. She gives news on everyone and hopes they …

Letter to Claude D. White from O. C. Harris responding to Claude's offer to sell Harris some land. Harris writes about the land and cost of things before telling Claude he needs time to consider the offer more.

Letter to Linnet White from Birdie McKinley. She writes of news involving friends and family, including the death of Mrs. Wallace, illnesses that have been going around, family visiting, and a new car that was purchased by a cousin.

Letter to Linnet White from Cora Robertson. She wrote of an upcoming operation Linnet will be having in Omaha and of local news. She includes details about her children, someone who has moved into town and started up a new business, and the weather.

Letter to Linnet White from Lula Watkins. She wrote to let Linnet know that she is happy to have Linnet and her family over to visit while Linnet is in Omaha to have an operation. She mentions that it appears a war might be happening soon and that it would make times difficult.

Letter to Linnet White from Mattie L. Arthur. She wrote to talk to Linnet about an operation that Linnet was planning to have soon in Omaha. She also includes bits of local news from the area.

Triplicate warrant and receipt from Kindred Watkins, Anderson County Texas, paid to cover taxes for 1857. The document was filed March 17, 1859.

She was glad to hear from them and will try to write back. Jackson planted irish potatoes and he/she planted mustard, radishes, beets, lettuce and risked planting pear. She writes what they had for dinner. She says they are doing well except for colds. There are cases of mumps and measles in the county and Jimmie and Auntie too. She received news that Add Nimmo died from Mr. Wallace. Jinnie also wrote them and said everyone was doing well, except Mat Winham who she doesn't expect to live long. Mr. Austin lost employment, but now works in retail. Hooper visited Jinnie and from what they could see he has been sober for a while. She went with Jackson and his sister Nan to Pilot Grove. She would like to hear from Betty and the old neighborhood. Austin fell in a fire and died, he willed everything to his wife. She made soap. Jim is all over Lizzie. She mentions that the wheat and peaches are looking good. She asks that they write soon of when they are coming and how they are doing.

Dinkie says that they are all doing well, except Sissie who is unwell. She had tried gardening, but it has been really cold. John Rutledge is sick, Lizzie Wallace's son is well, Mrs. Allison will not live long, Mrs. Harper is sick and Laura Dorris has consumption. Bessie and Bettie are doing well. The wheat does not look good this year anywhere. She is going to sell butter and eggs. She has a lot of sewing to do and needs to make soap. Birdie says that she is writing to Linnet and Uncle Charlie. Dinkie asks that they write soon. Willie writes that he made a cradle and wagon for his Aunt Florence. His sister Alice has been unwell. He is going to trim the orchard for his grandfather. He is also milking cows. He mentions that telephone wires are being put up. He wishes he could see Linnet. Alice writes that she has been sick, but has been helping out as well. She was milking cows and making butter to sell. Birdie and Alice wish they could play with Linnet and Willie made himself a tool chest.

Letter from Matilde Dodd to Mary and Charles B. Moore in which she gives news on the children in the family. She says that Abe has been working in town. The weather is cold and has killed off the wheat and other things that were planted during a brief warm period. She writes about recent illnesses among family and friends. Then discusses a mad (rabid?) dog. Dinkie McGee writes a page of the letter. She discusses the weather; the health of Birdie and Willie McGee; and that she plans to make aprons. William Dodd added a note at the end of the letter. Birdie added a note to Linnet saying that this was her "...birthday. I am five years old."
