Jenkens advises McKenzie as to why Carswell should continue to serve on the executive committee summing up the reasons with the statement, "To him, more than any other man, is due the working up of the interest in Texas resulting in getting the bill passed to put the Doctors and Drug Stores out of the liquor business."

Davis advises of the changes in the Curfew Bill making it a "farce" and, therefore, requests that they write to their representatives urging them to support the amendment with an eleven o'clock closing hour and no sales on Sunday.

A letter written to Dr. J. L. Ward, President, Decatur Baptist College, Decatur, Texas, from T. N. Carswell, Chairman 24th Senatorial District Drys. Letter reused with address revision to Dr. H. Lee, President, SMU, Dallas, Texas, dated March 4, 1942. Carswell explains the survey that he is making is to assertain to what extent the effects of the use of alcohol are taught in denominational schools.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Jeff Davis, Executive Secretary, United Texas Drys, dated March 5, 1942. Davis suggests using a pledge card such as the enclosed one when presenting the matter to pastors and advises of more churches participating than there are special speakers available for every church noting that in Houston, the past year, the pastor of the church usually spoke and took an offering at the close of the service.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Jeff Davis, Executive Secretary, United Texas Drys, dated March 17, 1942. Davis inquires of Carswell, "how goes the battle," and advises that he has plans, but he wants to hear from Carswell before doing anything and describes the program plans for Dallas. He advises Carswell, confidentially, that they have a plan to try to get on the July Primary ballot on a "war time proposition" noting if they can do that they "will be ready for big things".

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Jeff Davis, Executive Secretary, United Texas Drys, dated March 26, 1942. Davis acknowledges his receipt of the letter from Carswell and confirms the plan to be at their regular meeting. He advises of more than 50 churches having committed to field days estimating they will get one hundred.

Davis reports that House Bill 373 has passed the House, and that it will come up for public hearing before the Senate Criminal Jurisprudence Committee where the State Medical Association plans to oppose the bill.

A letter written to Dr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Jeff Davis, Executive Secretary, United Texas Drys, dated March 8, 1941. Davis acknowledges his receipt of the letter of February 28 from Carswell and replies regarding the cancellation of medical licenses of doctors who are specializing in liquor prescriptions stating that he doubts it can be done under the present law. He confides regarding the liquor committee and the potential support of a bill, the appointment of a committee to work with the legal staff of the Texas Liquor Control Board and his belief of the chance for constructive legislation.

A letter to T. N. Carswell from Jeff Davis, Executive Secretary, United Texas Drys dated March 11, 1941. Davis asks if Carswell will attend the State Brotherhood Convention and requests that Carswell delegate two or three of his men to represent him if he cannot be there. He advises that he will be staying at the San Jacinto Hotel in Houston or to write him at the office.

Methven complies to a request from Carswell and supplies copies of a letter. She advises that she is replying only to the questions to which she knows the answers noting that her father is out of town.
