The governor, Millwood L. Simpson, was writing to Amos H. Switzer, Kay county farmer living at the south end of the Kansas turnpike. In fact the four-lane super-highway ends in Switzer's oat field. Gov. Simpson's letter was to thank the Switzers for their kindness, hospitality and first aid and first aid last October, when the governor's car was the first to rush madly off the end of the turnpike into the oat field...Switzer has written the governor of Kansas and the Kansas turnpike authority seeking help. He has also written Gov. gary and the Oklahoma state highway commission seeking help. It is a tossup as to who is maddest at the moment, Oklahoma or Kansas. Kansas seems to have the edge.
