First M. E. Church, South, Marshall, Texas
Black and white halftone postcard of the First United Methodist Church, located at 300 East Houston St., in Marshall, Texas, photographed around 1909. The building was constructed in 1861. It is a front gable brick masonry structure in a Greek revival style with a bell tower and steeple on top of the front gable. The entrance porch has four tapered square brick columns surmounted by a pediment. The view shows the facade and the east side of the building with stained glass windows in the east wall and its raised basement windows visible. There is a two-story house with double gallery to the left of the church behind two trees. At the bottom of the image, printed in black is the title, "First M. E. Church, South, Marshall, Texas."
