Archaeological survey results of 34 acre area of land for proposed development in Smith County, Texas.

The first section of this report describes the status and primary motivations of the EU's preferential trade agreements (PTAs) currently in place or under negotiation. The second compares the content and trade coverage of Europe's PTAs to U.S. PTAs. A third section assesses the implications of the EU's PTA program for the multilateral trading system and U.S. trade policy. A concluding section evaluates future directions for Europe's PTA policy.

At the NRC�s request, ORAU conducted surveys of the AAR Manufacturing site during the period of September 25 through September 27, 2012. The survey activities included walkover surveys and sampling activities. Once the survey team was onsite, the NRC personnel decided to forgo survey activities in the �New Addition� and the pickling area. Areas of the planned study boundary were inaccessible due to overgrowth/large pieces of concrete covering the soil surface; therefore, the study boundary was redefined. Gamma walkover scans of the site boundary and �front yard� identified multiple areas of elevated gamma radiation. As a result, two judgmental samples were collected. Sample results were above thorium background levels The answer to the PSQ relating to the relationship between thorium concentration in soil and NaI instrument response is �Yes.� NaI instrument response can be used as a predictor of Th-232 concentration in the 0 to 1 m layer. An R2 value of 0.79 was determined for the surface soil relationship, thus satisfying the DQOs. Moreover, the regression was cross-checked by comparing the predicted Th-232 soil core concentration to the average Th-232 concentration (Section 5.3.2). The work described was undertaken to provide data for nuclear safety studies concerning NPF reprocessing equipment. The original objective was to determine the uranium density and water (hydrogen) content of UO2-H2O mixtures ranging from compact centrifuge cakes to dilute slurries. The scope was later expanded to include mixtures of UO2 with hydrocarbon oil and mixtures of UO3-H2O.

It is commonly thought that small couplings in a low-energy theory, such as those needed for the fermion mass hierarchy or proton stability, must originate from symmetries in a high-energy theory. We show that this expectation is violated in theories where the Standard Model fields are confined to a thick wall in extra dimensions, with the fermions ''stuck'' at different points in the wall. Couplings between them are then suppressed due to the exponentially small overlaps of their wave functions. This provides a framework for understanding both the fermion mass hierarchy and proton stability without imposing symmetries, but rather in terms of higher dimensional geography. A model independent prediction of this scenario is non-universal couplings of the Standard Model fermions to the ''Kaluza-Klein'' excitations of the gauge fields. This allows a measurement of the fermion locations in the extra dimensions at the LHC or NLC if the wall thickness is close to the TeV scale.

This document discusses studies of the behavior of uranium metal as a fuel element which previously have been hampered by the lack of understanding of the nature of radiation damage to the crystal structures. With the aid of the double crystal x-ray spectrometer, samples from irradiated fuel elements which had receive total exposure of 150 MWD/T and 1,000 MWD/T were studied and gross radiation damage was not present. Although these findings are of a preliminary nature, they are well in agreement with theoretical calculations in which the equilibrium concentration of displaced atoms at temperatures above 200{degrees}C would be extremely low. Assuming this to be the case, most of the crystallographic imperfection induced by pile radiations must have been annealed out of the metal studied. On the basis of this work it would seem quite likely that some fundamental facts about the nature of radiation damage could be learned by keeping the temperature low. This production test is designed so as to give information regarding the crystal structure damage where the uranium temperature during irradiation and post-irradiation operations is kept below 35{degrees}C.

One of the problems confronted in the investigation of environmental health and in biological research more generally is the fact that organisms often respond to combinations of treatments in ways which are not predictable from the way they respond to each of these taken separately. One air pollutant may, for example, disable the respiratory tract's self cleaning mechanisms and thereby increase its sensitivity to the effects of other pollutants. It is important that laboratory experiments be able to simultaneously detect the effects of the various possible combinations of treatments in a way that utilizes the data as effectively as possible. This paper deals with the optimal use of data from such experiments when the response variable can be regarded (possibly after undergoing a suitable transformation) as having a normal distribution with mean determined by the combination of treatments it has undergone.

This document outlines a proposal for extending UPC'spoint-to-point memcpy library with support for explicitly non-blockingtransfers, and non-contiguous (indexed and strided) transfers. Variousportions of this proposal could stand alone as independent extensions tothe UPC library. The designs presented here are heavily influenced byanalogous functionality which exists in other parallel communicationsystems, such as MPI, ARMCI, Titanium, and network hardware API's such asQuadrics elan, Infiniband vapi, IBM LAPI and Cray X-1. Each sectioncontains proposed extensions to the libraries in the UPC LanguageSpecification (section 7) and corresponding extensions to the GASNetcommunication system API.

This is a summary and documentation of the ``Nitride Problem`` and related subjects concerning fabrication metal. It contains the background information leading to details published in the Weapons Process Engineering Progress Reports. This summary may provide a better understanding of the problem, since little of the background was suitable for publication in the WPE progress reports.
