It takes only seconds for a tornado to swep through leaving death, injury and debris in its wake, but the cleaning up process take time. Scars of the tornadoes are harder to earse. twisted trees, loose bricks and scattered hinks of metal will be around for a long time but business and just plain living cannot be delayed because of a disaster...There was a lot of activity Friday morning in Bradely, Grady county, the hardest hit of the three towns. R. B. Marshall, owner of the local telephone exchange, was busy directing clean-up operationd at what had been the site of his telephone business...The storm blew the telephone exchange into the middle of the street and the town has been without local service since. One long distance line has been established out of Lindsay, seven miles to the east, with headquarters in G. C. Photograph used for a story in the Daily Oklahoman newspaper. Caption: "Oklahoma City's new $600,000 Central library is completed but it will not be open to the public until late sprin-maybe as late as June 1. The building has been accepted by city authorities butit's the finishing touches that are now causing the delay. Women who sew will understand the predicament. Long after the main seams of a dress are finished, there's still things like the zipper, hem and button-holes to add. In the case of the library, it's the floors (they're being laid now) and the furniture (contracts have not been let on some of these things; about 60 days must lapse after the contracts are let)."

Photograph used for a story in the Daily Oklahoman newspaper. Caption: "Here’s a bad intersection for property damage and personal injury and it's getting worse. It is the intersection of NW 10 and Broadway and despite drives by police it still holds the record in damage, in dollars and cents. During the past three years 42 persons have been injured here. There have been 99 accidents and property damage totalling $24,002. "It is a real trouble spot," says Capt. MacManus. Major cause is speed and disregarding traffic signals especially after night. most accidents, however, occur between 4 and 6:30 p.m., after downtown office workers start leaving for their homes. Last year 32 accidents were recorded at this intersection and only 10 took place after dark. Recently scores were arrested making left turns off Broadway. A new signal light now permits left turns at intervals. Since 1950 the number of personal injuries have steadily increased. In 1950, six persons were injured here, 15 in 1951 and 21 in 1952."

During the period 157 accidents have occured, according to a survey made by Capt. John McManus of the police traffic department. Cause of accidents is mostly speed and congestion. it is protected by a three-way traffic light. Although the southwest side intersection is the high spot on the number of collisions, property damage hasn't been aas high as NW 10 and Broadway. the Reno-Western survey discloses only eight persons were injured during the past three years and property damage totaled $10,035. Most of the accidents occured between 4 and 6 p.m. when downtown motorists start their homeward trek. Only six accidents occured after dark."
