The newsletter is for the collaborative project titled Arts Propel, whose primary goal is assessing student achievement in art and art education, along with art humanities. The newsletter will act as the projects primary source of information in regards to updates and achievements by the project.

However, without high-quality professional development the push to replicate effective reform strategies can be doomed. The rest of the article details about changes in the public system to conserve money but maintain their professional development programs.

A newspaper clipping on the newly constructed Getty Center museum and during the opening in December, Dr. William McCarter and Dr. Jack Davis were there. McCarter and Davis, co-directors of North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts, visited the Getty Center because of the institutions's ties to UNT, NTIEVA is funded in part by the Getty Education.

In regards to Broadus' recent visitation at Burton Hill and the progress the students are making with the DBAE program, that other teachers, Melissa Patterson, Rhonda Perry and Missy Cheatham, who were not part of the institute program want to implement the similar curriculum's into their classroom. Broadus writes that she'll contact Valetta Jackson about her visitation in the later month or March. Enclosed in the letter, Broadus gives studio suggestions that correspond with the "looking and learning" lesson plan, and she plans to send those to other teachers as well. Broadus writes that she has spoken with Aileen Horan at the Dallas Museum of Art and has arranged for a free field trip for the class, and that the buses will also be provided by the museum. Broadus hopes that O'Neal will consider this opportunity for her students and to contact her as soon as possible to discuss further details.

Broadus writes that she is happy that other teachers now involved with the institute program, want to implement art related programs into the curriculum and that Burton Hill is lucky to have an art specialists like Carolyn Sherburn for her contribution to the program and school.
