Preliminary Report on Lost Creek Schroeckingerite Area, Sweetwater County, Wyoming
Introduction: This report is a summary of the field work at the Lost Creek schroeckingerite deposit, Sweetwater County, Wyo. from July 1 through November 22, 1952. The objectives of field work at Lost Creek during the report period were to obtain additional data for calculating tonnage and grade and to obtain additional information on the controls and localization of schroeckingerite. In order to accomplish these objectives the Survey continued the exploration by means of trenching, mapped all trench walls (scale 1:120), mapped the exploration area at scales of 1:2400 and 1:9600, and carried on an extensive sampling program.

Lost Creek (Wamsutter) Schroeckingerite Deposit, Sweetwater County, Wyoming
Summary: The Lost Creek schroeckingerite deposit in Sweetwater County, Wyo., has attracted attention in the past both as an occurrence of comparatively rare minerals and more recently as a possible source of uranium ore. During the summer of 1948 a newly-formed company by the name of Uranium, Inc., explored part of the deposit by bulldozer trenching and drilling. under the technical direction of the Minerals Engineering Company of Grand Junction, Colo. Examination of the significant exposures of the schroeckingerite deposit indicated that the uraniferous beds are discontinuous and that their areal distribution is erratic. The overburden has an average thickness of 2.5 feet.

Preliminary Study of Radioactive Limonite Localities in Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming
Report discussing a preliminary study of limonite sourced from nine localities of different types through Colorado, Utah and Wyoming, in the spring and fall of 1953. This study aimed to establish criteria for differentiating uranium- and thorium-related limonite and limonite not related to uranium or thorium. The report is divided by descriptions of each locality.

Reconnaissance of Some Geologic Formations in Southeastern Idaho, Western Wyoming, and Northern Utah
Abstract: A radiometric reconnaissance, using a portable beta-gamma survey meter, of some geologic formations ranging in age from Cambrian to Cretaceous, and springs in southeastern Idaho, western Wyoming, and northern Utah, has shown that none of them are sufficiently radioactive to warrant further examination of them in the area.

Preliminary Digital Model of Ground-Water Flow in the Madison Group, Powder River Basin and Adjacent Areas, Wyoming, Montana, South Dakota, North Dakota, and Nebraska
Abstract: A digital simulation model was used to analyze regional ground-water flow in the Madison Group aquifer in the Powder River Basin and adjacent areas. Most recharge to the aquifer originates in or near the outcrop areas of the Madison in the Bighorn Mountains and Black Hills , and most discharge occurs through springs and wells. Results from the model calculations indicate that the total flow through the aquifer in the modeled areas was approximately 200 cubic feet per second (5.7 cubic metres per second). The aquifer can probably sustain increased ground-water withdrawals probably would significantly lower the potentiometric surface in the Madison aquifer in a large part of the basin. The digital model could better predict the effects of withdrawals if more accurate estimates of the storage coefficient, transmissivity, and leakance could be obtained.
