The church is described with the following paragraph, "Emmanuel Church. The Emmanuel Protestant Episcopal Church, on Frederick Street, was built in 1891, at a cost of about $25,000. It is a splendid brick structure partially covered in ivy. The church has a very strong membership both numerically and financially." The postcard is addressed to "Miss Mamie McFaddin 1906 McFaddin Ave Beaumont, Texas."

Foremost among the educational institutions of the South is Staunton Military Academy, an English, classical, scientific and military boarding school for boys. It is located on a high bluff overlooking the city, and is conceded to be the finest private military institution in the United States. The cost of construction was about $60,000." The postcard is addressed to "Miss Mamie McFaddin 1141 3rd Avenue Huntington, W. Va."

Below the picture, the name "Sig" is written. The picture on the postcard is described with the following, "Chesapeake & Ohio R. R. Depot. The Depot of the Chesapeak & Ohio Railroad at Staunton is a handsome brick structure, built in 1905 at a cost of about $30,000. It is provided with an extended, covered shed so as to protect very long trains, and the total length of the station, including the platform, is 650 feet." The letter reads, "Hello Mamie, your postcard received this a.m. Why don't you ever write me? With love - Sig." The postcard is addressed to "Miss Mamie McFaddin 1141 3rd Ave. Huntington W. Va."

Described on the back as follows - "Temperance Spring Temple on the Bremo Estate immediately west of the Strathmore station, adapted by General John Hartwell Cocke from one of the loveliest of the Roman temples. Dedicated to the Sons of Temperance by the owner of Bremo, one of the earlier and staunchest advocates of temperance, the spring basin emptied through an underground conduit into the great pitcher, now to be seen on the Lawn, thence into the Richmond-Lynchburg Canal, long since superseded by the Chesapeake and Ohio's River Division."

The scene is described in red type below the picture as "Front View Mary Baldwin Seminary, Staunton, Virginia." The letter on the postcard writes, "Dear Mamie, we are in Vernon, will be home soon and are certainly glad of it. Guess if nothing happens I will see you about one week from Weds - Sia." The postcard is addressed to "Miss Mamie McFaddin c/o Mr. W. P. H. McFaddin Beaumont, Texas."

The exposition celebrates the 300th anniversary of the beginning for the Nation. In 1607 John Smith, with other adventurers, set up a stockade on a peninsula of Powhatan's River (afterwards called the James), and named the settlement James City or Jamestown. From this grew Virginia and eventually, the United States. The site of the Exposition is of great natural beauty: it overlooks the historic waters of Hampton Roads, and around it cluster the populous cities of Norfolk, Portsmouth, and Newport News." The message on the back is illegible, but for the signature, "Auntie Curley." The postcard is addressed to "Miss Mamie McFaddin 1906 McFaddin Beaumont, Texas."

The note around the border reads, "Mathew and I spent the night here Saturday Sept. 27th 1941 on 1st night stop from Baltimore, Md. to Beaumont." The back of the postcard adds, "A modern air-conditioned 325 room version of an old English Inn, set in the midst of its own ten-acre park, in the heart of the city. A 100-car garage connects directly with the lobby. Kenneth R. Hyde, General Manager George L. Denison, Resident Manager."

The back of the postcard adds, "Administered jointly by the Association for the Preservation of Virginia Antiquities (Jamestown National Historic Site) and the National Park Service, U. S.
