Most of the letter is from Henry, who discusses his recent arrival in Trammel from the a military camp, his visit with Aunt Nancy and Elvira, military regiments, and the fact that Kentucky has not seceded from the Union yet. There is a short note from Elvira written on July 29, stating that Palmer's regiment may have left that morning.
