Letter from Clara Willis to John C. Lattimore on January 6, 1943, lamenting the entrance of Lattimore and Clara Willis's son Todd into the army, and their subsequent departure from Waco. She goes on to mention the weather in Grand Rapids, where Lattimore is stationed, and discusses the weather in Waco. She mentions that her son is on leave in Richmond, Virginia, and expresses her pride in Lattimore's entrance into the army.

The Wheat Jointworm and Its Control
Revised edition. "The wheat jointworm is a very small grub which lives in stems of wheat, sucking the juices of the plant and causing a swelling in the stem. The egg from which it hatches is laid in the stem by an insect resembling a small black ant with wings. This insect attacks no other kind of plant. The injury which it does to wheat is very distinct from that caused by the Hessian fly, yet the depredations of these two insects are often confused by farmers. This paper is intended, therefore, to give a brief outline of the life history and the nature of the injury to the plant by the jointworm so that any farmer may readily recognize its work and be able to apply the measures of control herein recommended." -- p. 3-4

Oral History Interview with Aaron C. Kulow
The National Museum of the Pacific War presents an oral interview with Aaron C. Kulow. Kulow grew up in Michigan and enlisted in the Navy in 1942. After training, he joined the ship USS Pollux AKS-4 at Norfolk, Virginia. Initially the ship runs trips down to the Carribbean and Brazil but in 1943 is fitted with radar and sent to the Pacific Theater. In the Pacific, the general stores issue ship visited Australia, New Guinea, the Admiralty Islands, and the New Hebrides Islands. He then returned to San Francisco in 1944 where his wife met him to get married. He left for the Pacific again and in 1945 traveled to the Philippines. In 1945 Kulow met survivors of the Bataan Death March that had been liberated. He remembers going to a friend's burial in the Philippines. On V-J Day Kulow was at Manila Harbor. He left for America in October 1945 and was discharged in New York December 12, 1945.

Beekeeping in the Buckwheat Region
"The production of the full honey crop from buckwheat requires a plan of apiary management quite different from that of most other beekeeping regions. Injury Experience in the Coking Industry, 1951
From Introduction and Summary: "Reports from operating companies showed that 25,715 men worked at coke ovens in 1951, about 6 percent more than were employed in 1950 and, except in 1943, the largest work force since 1930, when 28,139 men were employed. The work time for all employees was 70,190,493 man-hours. The returns indicated an average of 344 work days per man as compared with 341 days in the previous year. Accidents at the ovens resulted in the death of 10 and injury to 768 workers, both of these figures representing fewer injuries than in 1950."

Interview with Marjorie Rae Lutkins Babcock, Women's Army Corps Enlisted, Keypunch Operator, and Korean War-ere Veteran, for the Women Veterans Oral History Project. The interview includes Babcock's personal experiences of childhood in Michigan, basic training at Fort Lee, Virginia, duty assignments at Governor's Island, New York and Hanau, Germany, her temporary duty assignment at the Pentagon, her placement in the Veterans of Foreign War's Women's Auxiliary despite veteran status, and her brother's experience in the Merchant Marines during World War II. Additionally, the interview includes her reason for enlisting, her family's reaction to her enlistment, impressions of post-war Germany, advice for future women service members, her views on service and women in combat, and her daughter's views of the military and the military service of her mom and other family members. The interview includes an appendix with photographs and a list detailing Babcock's military career.
