He requests guidance regarding purchasing uniforms and advises regarding some funding that has been promised for their unit.

Carswell replies to a letter from Dawson and advises of the local Guard's intention to use the full uniform for officers. He provides examples of how the items that are needed to complete a uniform can be purchased frugally.

A letter written to Hon. John Lee Smith, State Senator, Throckmorton, Texas, from T. N. Carswell, Fifth Division Commander, American Legion, dated August 31, 1942. Carswell issues an invitation to attend the dedication of the Parramore Post building. At the bottom of the page is a handwritten reply from Mrs. John Lee Smith declining the invitation for John Lee due to his being in the New England States on Lodge business.

A postcard addressed to Mr. J. D. Riddle, First Baptist Church, Abilene, Texas, postmarked Throckmorton, Texas (January 15, 1941). The reverse side includes correspondence to Bro. Riddle, First Baptist Church, Abilene, Texas from Elmer D. Holt, Throckmorton, Texas. Holt announces a meeting of the Dry Forces of their County to be held at the First Presbyterian Church and requests of Riddle that a team be sent to assist in the beginning of the work.
