Nichelle Nichols played communications officer Lieutenant (later, Commander) Uhura aboard the USS Enterprise in the Star Trek television series (1966–1969), working to recruit diverse astronauts to NASA, including women and ethnic minorities.

Video recording of the Columbus Quincentenary featuring the Niña, Pinta, and Santa Maria on Galveston Island. The festivities were held over five days, March 25-29, in 1992. The video includes shots of the replica Niña, Pinta, and Santa Maria caravels, a rigging display by the 'crew' of the ships, and a shot of the beach from where Samuel Marino stayed for the trip. There is also footage of a speech and presentation by Vicki Winick - the Galveston Mayor, a speech from Texas Chairman of the Jubilee Commission Nick Lampson, and video of the presentation of an award to the Spain '92 foundation members.

Providing access to Spanish language resources online

Panel presentation: Providing access to Spanish language resources online by Julie Judkins, Jaimi Parker, and Maia Gibbons. In Fall 2020, the University of North Texas Special Collections department initiated a pilot project to translate English language finding aids and digital exhibits into Spanish, to provide greater accessibility. Jaimi Parker and Julie Judkins, will outline methods used for translation and provide advice to institutions undertaking translation projects of their own, regardless of available resources. A yellow lawn enclosed by short white walls sits farther into the scene, multiple tall trees without foliage growing in the lawn while a telephone pole sits in the left side of the photo next to a sign with an arrow and a silhouette of Texas containing the text "Farm Road" and the numbers "2473". A flagpole also rises from the left half of the lawn, the American flag flying at its top.
