It also includes at least partial letters to friends from Charles Moore, copies of letters from friends, and some practice in shorthand. There is a cover with an illustration of a fisherman steering a boat on the front, and it says "Pilot."

Two letters written to Linnet Moore. The first, from E. E. Welherald discusses local news, a church function, and inquires about the well being of Linnet's family. Charles Moore wrote an additional letter to Linnet on the reverse side of E. E. Welherald's letter, wherein he wrote about Welherald, family business, and news. The letters included two envelopes since the first letter and envelope was forwarded after adding notes.

Envelope addressed to Mr. Charles B. Moore in Melissa, Collin County, Texas. It was sent by Will McGee and received on April 24, 1895, according to the hand-written note in the bottom left corner. It is postmarked Gallatin, Tenn. APR 20, 1895. The top right corner, where the stamp would have been, has been cut away.

Envelope addressed to Miss Linnet Moore in Chambersville, Collin County, Texas. It was sent by Birdie McGee and read by Linnet on October 13, 1987. It is postmarked Gallatin, Tenn. October 7, 1897. The right side of the envelope is torn, and the top right corner, where the stamp would have been, had been cut away. There is some writing in pencil on the back and another postmark from McKinney, Texas on October 9, 1897.

This is a letter from the Charles B. Moore Collection. It is written by Charles B. Moore and is addressed to Mary Ann Moore. In this letter, Moore details his trip to Colorado for Mary Ann Moore and Laura Jernigan. He notes the town they are staying in at present, Manitou, and mentions their living quarters. He details the activities they have been experiencing such as hiking, searching for caves, and riding electric trolley's up to Pike's peak. He discusses that once on top of the peak, Linnet decided it would be great to stay in one of the little cottages that line the valley. During their stay in one of these cottages, Linnet, Charles, and their fellow travelers meet an interesting Texan. Charles states to Mary that his only regret is that she and the rest of the family are not able to experience the wonders he is seeing in Colorado. He mentions their plans for that day and describes the landscape for Mary. He discusses the railroad tunnels and the people he sees traveling up and down Pike's Peak on mules. He closes the letter stating he is sending a card that their traveling companion has collected and …

The postal stamp is from Nashville, Tennessee and it is dated May 13, 1890. The back of the envelop has a post marked stamp from Melissa, Texas with no date.

Birdie mentions all the people that came over to visit and what Will got her. She mentions the weather they have had and was sorry to hear they were sick. She asks if Alice still pulls hair and that they would write her and Bessie and Mattie. In the letter to her Aunt and Uncle she mentions the weather and what her other Aunts and Uncles have been doing. In Dinkie's letter to Alice she says how happy she is to hear they are doing well. She mentions that their health is also doing well. She had many visitors. She went to town the other day and got some fabric, a dress other things. She mentions the weather and says she hasn't seen Mat R. Miss Nicie is getting married. She asks Linnet to take care of Alice. She is also going to send Alice some money.

He will be leaving Monday evening if the weather cooperates. He will have to stay at Gainsville. He will telegraph when they leave and Florence is still not doing well.

She tells Linnet why she is writing and who else she has already written. She also mentions how she is staying in fashion and how everyone is doing. Her father planted corn and she did not have to help this time. She talks about chickens and ducks. She talks about school and wants them to come visit. She rode Mollie and asks if Melissa made it yet. Mr. Bill Bomer visited. She asks about school.

Matilda received news of Tobe and Minnie. Abe and Bettie had left to see them. Florence's health has improved and so has her baby's. Tobe is going to work on the railroad. She then mentions the weather and its effect on the crops. She mentions the start of school for Linnet and Birdie. She is expecting people to be coming to visit. Dinkie had some people over and made dinner for them. She talks about thrashing wheat, and Willie killing Birdie's gosling. She wants to go see Florence and Minnie. She wishes they were coming to visit in the summer.

Dinkie mentions that they are all well and Florence, Mary and Minnie spent the night there. Tobe it taking Florence to her mothers. Willie is working in town early in the morning. She mentions the weather and the vegetables in her garden. Birdie talks about school, Minnie Dodd's tooth, and Tobe and Florence possibly going back to Indian territory. Mary is staying with them and doesn't want to go to Indian territory. Dinkie mentions that Sallie and Mattie visited,and Charlie and Fannie are going to rent Mr. Campbell's place. She talks about milking, making butter, and selling eggs. She received some apples and canned some, and made some jelly. She tells Linnet all the fun Bird, Mary and Minnie are having. If Linnet was there then all of the grandchildren would be together.

Jack and Lee have had some problems with getting the wheat. They had to hire help. She mentions they have been having bad weather. Jack's father died and so he will have to go back because of the will. She wonders where his mother will go and also Mrs. Lucas. She mentions she now has eye glasses. She would like to have them visit her, and even tried to go visit them for the fall, but it fell through. She talks about the schooling of her children and how she might have to send them to boarding school. She would like the Moores to write back a long letter.

This is a letter from the Charles B. Moore Collection. It is written by Moore to Patty Brown. In the letter, Charles discusses the Annie Laura story and gives Brown a brief, yet detailed family history. Highlighting major life events, he notes how he was born in Gallatin, moved to Texas, and moved away from Texas during the war. He also details his work with mills,how he changed career paths, and when he was married. This letter is dated March 1891.

This is a draft from the personal papers of the Charles B. Moore Collection. It is written by Moore on April 19, 1891. In this letter, Moore writes about an article written in the Dallas Weekly News on April 16 by D. B. Kiefer. The article details a "norther" that struck Texas in April of 1857. He states in this document that he writes to corroborate stories with the journalist, provide his experience through the "norther," and make a correction on the date given in Kiefer's article. The third and fourth page of this document includes genealogical accounts of Moore's descendants. He details the Wallace family and the history of some of the Wallace men who were part of an expedition sent on a charge to the Creek nation.

Letter from Henry Moore to his brother Charles, Mary and Linnet Moore. Henry uses shorthand in the first five pages the letter. He informs the his brother's family about his activities, his friends, and what he duties at work. He also talks about his farm, the produce it produces, and the sales of produce and farm animals. He says his 'Examiner" subscription continued. He also made a comment on "free silver."

Letter from Henry Moore to Charles, Mary and Linnet Moore in which he jokes about starvation and then lists the food he has available to eat. He was writing the Moore family while they were visiting family in Gallatin, Tennessee. Henry writesthat he has heard that there are more buggies than hogs in Texas. He discusses the financial crisis of 1893. He also talks about farming, harvesting cotton, and canning peaches. He is interested and would like to see a six inch telescope that the "College at Whitewright" (Grayson College) is said to have. He gives details on a picnic, trips he took, the weather, and his views on politics.
