Carswell advises Johnson and Yarborough that their actions on the Kennedy Labor Bill were contrary to his feeling about that legislation. He suggests they cut waste thus reducing expenditures and set a good example by a full disclosure of their official expenditures and make such disclosure a requirement of all members of Congress.

A letter written to Mr. Carswell, from R. D. Hill, Casa Grande Lodge, Albuquerque, New Mexico, dated July 4, 1950. Hill outlines his business travel itinerary and monologues on politics venturing the guess that 'barring the effects of the Korean situation' that much of his business will be accomplished within the next six months. He advises that Mr. Sproul has been testing bottling coffee for distribution under the name of ICEKOFA. Hill advises of the potential need for a stockpile of metals when "things get moving" and politically philosophizes "Were F. D. R. still alive he would be forced to admit having been a dam-fool or heluvaliar?" He then notes that it is also of interest that the people of this country are experiencing GREAT prosperity yet according to the news every person is "on the cuff" for $1,704.50. Handwritten postscript at top left of page is an apology for the lack of time to "write at length".

A letter written to a parolee in Abilene, Texas, from W. P. Cameron, Chairman Palo Pinto County Parole Board, Mineral Wells, Texas, dated January 4, 1956. Carmeron advises Subject 130,969 that the transfer to Abilene is in progress instructing Subject to show this letter to the Taylor County Parole Board Chairman and to report to him in the future.

Carswell advises the District Attorney of California of an enclosed "Notice of Intention to Apply for Executive Clemency" by the applicant referenced, Subject 17095.

Burkhart replies to a letter from Carswell regarding the status of the clemency application for Subject AA 57-1951. He advises that the processing of the case is nearly completed.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Chairman, Taylor County Parole Board, from Joseph G. Babich, Secretary, Governor's Office, Sacramento 14, California, dated December 4, 1953. Babich acknowledges, per the request of Governor Knight, the letter from Carswell of December 2 regarding the request made for clemency for Subject No. 17095 assuring Carswell that Governor Knight will not consider another application for executive clemency from this subject until October, 1955.

Carswell explains that Subject No. 113,841 is a barber and Paul Arendall, Subject's former employer, is being threatened with penalties by a local member of the State Barber Board due to him employing a parolee. Notation handwritten by Carswell advises of copy to the Secretary of State

A letter addressed to Representative Latimer and Senator Ratliff, Austin, Texas, from T. N. Carswell, dated May 4, 1959. Carswell suggests to Latimer and Ratliff that a tax bill be written to reduce the state debt, but to do so they will have to "clean out the mess there" addressing specifically the members with outside clients seeking special favors and legislation by and for organized groups, any group, every group.

A letter written to Omar Burleson, from T. N. Carswell, dated May 4, 1959. Carswell discusses the Kennedy Labor Bill adoption by the Senate requesting of Burleson that when the Bill gets to the House that he support, in full, the McClellan Amendments. He expresses his appreciation for Burleson's efforts made toward making public the expenditures of all House and Senate Members. He advises that it is a step to stop waste, reduce government expenditures and still maintain the necessary defense posture.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Rupert, R. H. Johnson & Co. Investment Securities, New York 5, N. Y., dated January 4, 1950. Johnson expresses his appreciation to Carswell for the thought and for the tie for Christmas. He advises that he put some Florida Power & Light stock into Carswell's account noting the prospects of the company as excellent.

A letter addressed to The A. N. Marquis Company, Chicago 11, Illinois, from T. N. Carswell, dated November 4, 1952. Carswell suggests the name of Mr. Folks Huxford of Homerville, Georgia for inclusion in the next "Who's Who in the South and Southwest.

A letter addressed to Governor Allan Shivers, Austin, Texas, from Richard Feagan, Abilene, Texas, dated September 4, 1952. Copy to T.N.C. Feagan discusses the refusal of The Taylor County Democratic Convention to pass a resolution for the names of Stevenson and Sparkman to be placed on the ballot in Texas as Democratic nominees for President and Vice-President. He urges Shivers to do all he can to cause the State Convention to place two slates of Democratic nominees on the November ballot.
