She asks what is happening to our beautiful America, land of the free, discussing the student unrest not only on the campuses at Lawrence, Kansas where Larry attends and at the University of Texas where Lyndell attends but all over the country pointing to the war and draft as a continual dread for students. She advises that Glyn is doing fairly well, the Jack Quades are all right and asks after Mrs. Carswell.

A letter written to Mrs. Beatrice Jackson, Los Angeles, California, from T. N. Carswell, dated May 7, 1970. Carswell advises of the receipt of a notice from the City relative to delinquent taxes on Lot 24 advising Jackson of the $148.80 still owed him.

Powell advises Carswell of an enclosed cafeteria card which is to in a small way say "thank you" for his continuous service and acknowledges that Carswell is the only living Charter Member of the Board of Trustees.

A letter written to Uncle Norwood [T. N. Carswell] from "Bob" [William Robert Howell], Davidson College, Davidson, North Carolina. Howell expresses his appreciation to Carswell for the gift copy of "Our Country." Notation is made that this letter was answered by Carswell on May 16, 1972.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from George Mahon, House of Representatives, Washington, D. C., dated May 18, 1971. Mahon expresses his appreciation to Carswell for sending a copy of the Dallas Morning News editorial on the Soviet armament buildup and for Carswell's comments stating his support of a strong military posture for the country. Mahon advises of the enclosure of a reprint which may be of interest to Carswell. Typewritten on U.S. House letterhead bearing U S Eagle watermark.
