The National Museum of the Pacific War presents an interview with A J Durham. Durham joined the Navy in February of 1943. He served with Composite Squadron 55 (VC-55). After basic training, Durham worked at the Naval Air Station in Astoria, Oregon and unloaded ammunition ships. He later served with the Ordnance Department, synchronizing 30 caliber machine guns aboard TBMs. Durham transferred to Composite Squadron 4 (VC-4), and completed Torpedo School, and served as a Torpedo man and an Aviation Ordnance Mate aboard a TBF Avenger. In April of 1944, he began serving aboard USS White Plains (CVE-66) and recalls his experiences aboard the carrier during invasions of the Mariana and Palau Islands, and through the Battle of Leyte Gulf. Durham remained aboard during Operation MAGIC CARPET, returning troops back to the US. He continued his service in the Reserves, receiving his discharge in the early 1950s.

Letter from Rabbi Newton J. Friedman to I. H. Kempner discussing a miscommunication about the cancelation of the May 30th meeting. He also mentions July as the month for the next meeting to discuss the Hillel Foundation's progress on the Building Fund. He remains confident that the brochure they are sending out will stimulate giving across the state.

Letter from I. H. Kempner to B'nai B'rith District Grand Lodge No. 7 informally acknowledging receipt of the Lodge's donation of $1,000 to the Hillel Building Fund. He explains that the Rabbi has left for a trip so their formal acceptance of the donation will be delayed. He also states that he believes there will be no problem with placing a plaque in the Hillel House to honor their deceased Secretary Myron M. Goldman who the donation is on behalf of.

Letter from Alex Bradford to Fire Chief R. Otis Muenster discussing the fire fighting equipment testing that was being held in Elmira, New York. Within the letter, Mr. Bradford provides a brief notice about the test conditions and some of the problems that he raised to the managing team. Most of the content of the letter describes the testing being performed along with Mr. Bradford's opinions on the results of said tests.

He also discusses Miss Anspach's situation regarding her search for accommodation and her ability to support herself. He also expresses regret about a missed dinner and a prompt for further assistance.

Copy of a letter from Charlie Kilpatrick (?) to Mrs. Willie D. Stallings, signed by "Charles", that discusses the writer's injured hand and his plans for when he receives inactive duty status. On the back of the page, the name, "Willie Westmoreland Stallings 1902-1993" is written in pencil.

Other letters and articles discuss horse thieves that were shot, the Election Law that had recently been passed on the front, with text on the back describing recent events and anecdotes and bounties, with advertisements.

Letter from Bonilla, Read, Nutto, & Bonilla, Inc. to American Express regarding a credit card issued at the request of Joe Benites. Included in the document is an envelope from Edward T. Burke to Manuel Gonzales postmarked June 29, 1976, as well as a copy of a handwritten note dated March 25, 1977.

Patent for an effective cotton-baling machine that improves on how cotton is compressed and fed into the rotary, that stretches the cotton to its thinnest, that improves on how the core is carried, that raises and lowers the compressor roller, that improves on the rack-and pinion mechanism, that improves on how the ends of the cotton roll are pressed, and that quickly and easily finishes each bale.

Patent for a clip for type-writers for Remington or similar type-writers that holds post-cards, envelopes, and similar short items in place. The invention prevents "the blurring or bad impression which is apt to be made, more particularly in machines having type bars with two types each, when the paper is not held firmly to the roller or platen" (lines 12-16).
