Rail Joint.

Patent for a new and improved rail-joint. This design consists in "[t]he combination, with a railroad-rail having notches in its flanges, of a fish-plate composed of a single piece of metal adapted to embrace the flange and web of the rail, said fish-plate being plain on one side and provided on the other side with ribs, perforated lugs projecting from the ribs at the ends of the fish-plate, said fish-plate being provided with perforations on one side to align with notches in the rail-flange, and notches in the other side out of alignment with the rail-flange" (lines 3-14).
