Letter from Karl L. Lovelady to I. H. Kempner describing his travel and discussions with various Texas representatives and officials concerning the potential move of a medical institution. Despite Dr. Rainey's willingness to act legislatively, Lovelady notes a preference among representatives to keep the institution in Galveston. Lovelady relays confidential remarks from Mr. Schreiner, indicating strong opposition to the move, and ends with his intent to continue engaging with local territories on the matter.

In 1937 the gully was worked with a blade and seeded to bluestem. Excess terrace water from entire cultivated area of the farm is now being safely disposed of through this channel."

Navy blue two-piece suit of wool consisting of: A. Fitted jacket with Peter Pan collar. Tab at top of jacket under neck extends two inches past center and buttons on left side with two round buttons. Jacket center opening has one hook at center and one button at waist. Full-length sleeves made in one piece with jacket front and back. Gusset under arm for ease of movement. Right sleeve is decorated with blue and grey stripe pattern which extends up sleeve and across onto tab. Vertical stripe starts from back waist and runs down front, forming plaid at shoulder and is gathered into a narrow band at waist. Stripe continues to hem of jacket and has fold of striped fabric coming from under band to form scarf-like effect. Back is made in 6 sections with plaid design at shoulder and stripes running horizontally and vertically and ending before the absolute center. Band at waist is continued on back right, but does not reach jacket center. Inside lined with blue silk. Designer's label at center back inside neck: "Adrian / Original" Retailer's label along left inside flap of opening: "The Fashion / Ben Wolfman Inc. / Houston" B: Blue straight skirt …

A form letter addressed to All Posts, 17th District, from W. J. Wisdom, 17th District Commander, The American Legion, Stephenville, Texas, dated June 14, 1943. Wisdom advises of his decision to leave his command at the American Legion to report to the United Service Organization, wanting to get into the Army, but that this will be as close as he gets. He refers to the vacant room of his lad of eighteen, just like the countless other vacant rooms throughout the land and makes the appeal, "I urge, implore and beg of you to be about our country's business, and be the kind of American those absent boys expect you to be."

Commander, The American Legion, Stephenville, Texas, dated October 27, 1942. Wisdom offers his suggestions for the committees on Negro Veterans and The Memorial Highway: D. C. Harris, Mineral Wells; J. W. Clements, Stephenville; Floyd Campbell, Hamilton. Handwritten notation by T. N. Carswell adds the suggestion of D. C. Harris of Mineral Wells, R. N. Richardson of Hardin-Simmons University.

A letter written to Mr. G. Ward Moody, Field Representative, The American Legion, Austin, Texas, from W. J. Wisdom, 17th Dist. Commander, Stephenville, Texas, dated October 20, 1942. Wisdom explains the reason for his delay in answering Moody's letter, that it is due to membership quotas being set too high and advises that the talk from the boys from most of the posts is regarding lowering membership quotas. He advises of the attached sheet listing quotas for each Post. Attachment includes: Report by G. Ward Moody, Austin. Suggested quotas for Posts in 17th District, Department of Texas, The American Legion and a handwritten note to Tommy from Bill, "This is terrible, Tommy".

A form letter from W. J. Wisdom, 17th Dist. Commander, The American Legion, Stephenville, Texas, dated August 7, 1942. Wisdom advises of the selection of Carswell as a member of the Department Convention Committee on Rules, and stresses that attendance at the convention is important.

A letter written to Mr. Tommy Carswell, Abilene, Texas from W. J. (Bill) Wisdom, 17th District Commander, Stephenville, Texas, dated December 17, 1941. Wisdom expresses his appreciation for Carswell's good will and whole-hearted cooperation during the time that Wisdom was district commander and extends Christmas greetings.

A letter written to Major Thos. N. Carswell, Commander, Tenth Batttalion, Texas Defense Guard, Abilene, Texas, from Capt. Roy C. McCune, Capt. Inf. Commanding Co. D. 15th Bn. Texas Defense Guard, Dublin, Texas, dated October 20, 1941. McCune acknowledges the invitation from Carswell to attend the Armistice Day Program but declines due to a football game to be played in Dublin.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from W. J. Wisdom, 17th District Commander, The American Legion, Stephenville, Texas, dated October 9, 1941. Wisdom requests that Carswell make a report on the Milwaukee Convention during the Sunday afternoon business session.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from W. T. Walton, President, Ranger Junior College, dated April 23, 1941. Walton advises Carswell of the enclosed copy of the minutes of their meeting in Cisco regarding an organization for college students who are sons and daughters of World War Veterans, and he expresses his pleasure of having worked on the Committee with Carswell noting that he would see him at Hardin-Simmons for the inauguration of Dr. White.

Wisdom, Chairman of Committee, John Tarleton Agricultural College, Stephenville, Texas, dated April 3, 1941. Wisdom advises Carswell of their placement on a committee created to work out the details of an organization for college students who are sons and daughters of World War Veterans.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Post Commander Parramore Post, Abilene, Texas, from Sam Russell, District Judge, Stephenville, Texas, dated October 27, 1940. Russell acknowledges his receipt of the telegram sent by Carswell and accepts the invitation to address the Armistice Day Program if it is to be held during the day citing a previous engagement in Stamford that night.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Harry L. Spencer, Pastor, First Baptist Church, Stephenville, Texas, dated September 4, 1942. Spencer declares the idea Carswell is promoting as "indispensible" in a permanent solution of the liquor problem in our country.
