He goes on to say that he went to the beach and got a sunburn recently, then mentions the marriage of a friend.

Wilbur Crawford promised to send Willis a fountain pen when he got back to his camp. Willis says it's still cold out, but they keep their stove on to stay warm. He also mentions getting a letter from Wilbur Crawford, who promised to send him a picture of his wife.

He also mentions spending a day with Wilbur Crawford, and going to a show that turned out to be awful. He says they will try again on Monday, and that Crawford is walking without a cane again.

He reflects on the strangeness of spending two birthdays overseas, and wishes to spend his next one in America. He tells them he went to see a movie the day before, which he didn't like. He concludes by expressing a wish to meet Jean Wood, and wonders if he still remembers how to talk to girls.

Interview with W. W. Hughes, a Texas National Guard WWII veteran from Grand Prarie, Texas. Hughes discusses growing up in the Great Depression, joining the National Guard and equestrian service in the 112th Cavalry at Fort Clark, the start of war and deployment to New Caledonia and Australia, preparations for combat, amphibious landings at Arawe Island off New Britain, scout patrols and combat, operations in New Guinea at the Driniumor River, Japanese POWs, actions in the Philippines at Leyte and Luzon, returning to the US as an instructor, and reflections on his service.

Interview with Glenn G. Morgan, a bugler in the U. S. Navy during World War II. He was a bugler aboard the USS Indianapolis and experienced a kamikaze attack during the Okinawa campaign. He also describes transporting the crate that contained the first atomic bomb to Tinian, the ship's sinking, and the four days and five nights he spent in a life raft waiting to be rescued.
