The purposes for conducting this study were to ascertain whether the housing for industrial arts metalworking laboratories was adequate, whether the enrollment of the school showed any correlation with the availability of a metalworking facility, and to what extent the physical facility for metalworking laboratories met current standards.

The problem of this study is to determine to what extent the present industrial arts program of the Highland Park Schools of Dallas, Texas, serve the actual needs of the community.

The purpose of this study is to determine the pupil load in relationship to the amount of equipment available for use in industrial arts classes in the junior high schools of Texas.

This study was made to gather data and information to aid the Burleson Independent School District in initiating an industrial arts general shop program in the Pauline G. Hughes Middle School. The data and information were obtained from the Texas Education Agency, the Burleson Independent School District records, the vocational director, the assistant superintendent, a questionnaire, and the Brodhead-Garrett 1976-1977 Catalog. The majority of the general shop programs in the north Texas area conduct classes five days a week for fifty-five minutes a day and accommodate twenty-four students per class. Furthermore, the majority of the general shop programs offer three units of instruction per year and teach one unit of instruction each quarter.

The problem with which this investigation was concerned was that of determining the use of modern automotive tune-up equipment as used by the automotive garages in the Fort Worth area. The data for this study were provided by fifteen garages of the Fort Worth area. Of the Fort Worth garages using electronic equipment to perform a tune-up, few appear to have the adequate equipment and few appear to make more use of the equipment. In addition, a deficiency seems evident in the use of the electronic computer in performing tune-ups.

This study was designed to determine the employment opportunities in the steel fabrication industry of the Greater Fort Worth Metropolitan Area, and to ascertain what skills and knowledge were required of the prospective employee and which of these skills were being taught in the Industrial Arts metalworking laboratories. The Machine Metalworking I & II curriculum was established and related to information gained through a questionnaire sent to participating steel fabrication firms. The study was used to determine present and anticipated employment opportunities in the steel fabrication industry and aid in evaluating the curriculum of Machine Metalworking I & II as it relates to the employment requirements of the steel fabrication industry.

The problem of this study was to determine how much foundry equipment exists in the high schools of Texas and to determine to what extent it is being utilized. The data for this study were provided by thirty-seven metalworking instructors of Texas high schools. Of the Texas high schools offering metalworking as a part of the industrial arts curriculum, few appear to have adequate foundry facilities. In addition, a deficiency seems evident in the background and training in foundry of the metalworking instructors.

This study was conducted in order to determine what safety practices and procedures were employed in the industrial plastics laboratories in the secondary schools of the Fort Worth Independent School District. Data were obtained from literature in the field of safety education in industrial arts and from an information form mailed to the teachers of industrial plastics in the Fort Worth Independent School District. Hazardous conditions were found to exist in a majority of the laboratories due to a lack of sufficient floor space and work stations and the absence of proper guards on machines, proper storage facilities for flammable liquids, painted danger zones and nonskid surfaces on floors around machines.

The purpose of the study is to analyze the results of a survey of the graduates of Technical High School in Dallas since 1938 to determine the effectiveness of the training given by the school in helping the graduate choose an occupation and giving him skills and attitudes that will help him get a job and make a good worker.

The problem of this study is to make a comparative analysis of the success, based on wages and increases in wages, of 209 students. There were 103 students who had completed Type "B" vocational training and 106 high school graduates who had not completed or taken Type "B" vocational training in the Houston Public Schools.

There are many factors to be considered when studying the lighting of industrial arts shops. Adequate light is one of the most important factors, and by adequate lighting is meant light that is sufficient in quantity and quality. Other factors to be considered include the location of the shops in the building, the windows, interior painting, width, and length, and the ceiling height of the shoprooms. The study herein is directed toward better lighting in the industrial arts shops for more efficient work.

The purpose of this study is to determine the use of homemade tools for leatherwork, and to examine the possibilities of making a part of the tools and equipment needed in leathercraft classes. This study will include inquiries made to the high schools of Texas where courses in leathercraft are offered.

The purpose of this study was to determine, by means of a survey, the desires and needs of Latin-American children in connection with an educational program in the elementary school and at the junior-high-school level. It was recognized at the outset of this investigation that these pupils may be influenced materially both by the lower standard of education of their parents and the higher standard of education of their teachers. What benefits do the parents and teachers believe will come from an industrial arts program in the Thomas A. Edison School?

The purpose of this study is to determine to what extent related information is being taught in the junior high school woodwork classes of Texas. The study will attempt to answer such questions as follows: Do the industrial arts teachers believe in teaching related information? If they teach related information, do they examine the students on it, and if so, to what extent does the related material affect the final grade? Approximately what part of the class period is recommended as the proper amount of time to devote to related information? Is there a shop library available to the students? Do the teachers require the students to have a textbook or workbook for each of the industrial arts courses they teach?

The purpose of this survey is to present a program suitable for adult education and a more functional one for the senior high school. In order to do this, a survey of the industries will be necessary to determine the kind and types of classes that will be in the greatest demand.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the adequacy of the automobile mechanics courses taught in certain Texas high schools to determine (1) what high schools of Texas offer courses in auto mechanics; (2) in what place in the curriculum are such courses offered; (3) what methods of teaching auto mechanics are being used; (4) how many units are offered and what is contained in each unit; and (5) the opinions of the school administrators, auto mechanics teachers, and industrial arts teachers as to what should be taught in the auto mechanics courses.
