The National Museum of the Pacific War presents an oral interview with Albert Barton. Barton joined the Navy and was trained as a radioman. He became a crewman on an Avenger torpedo bomber in October 1943. Barton flew off of the USS Mission Bay (CVE-59) and the USS Tripoli (CVE-64) and performed anti-submarine patrols in the North Atlantic. He describes how depth charges were dropped, the armament of the plane, and how they were trained to skip-bomb. Barton was then sent to the Pacific where he flew off of the USS Anzio (CVE-57) for the remainder of the war. He describes an incident where his plane had a failed landing and ended upside-down in the water. Barton had to break some glass in the cockpit to escape. He flew ground support missions over Okinawa. Barton discusses how the radio and radar functioned on his plane. He was discharged several months after the surrender.

Letter from James C. Lide to Harris Leon Kempner letting him know that he sent the documents to the Japanese consulate in New Orleans, but mentions that they need one more thing, which is a bankers reference stating that they'll have enough funds to support their stay there. So, he requests him to get it done for both him and Mrs. Kempner and send them to him.

Letter from Harris Leon Kempner to D. W. Kempner discussing how an old war friend of Harris is in Paris and he thinks it would be a good idea for Daniel to connect with him. And the rest of the letter consists on sales of bales.

Letter from Daniel W. Kempner to S. Kida discussing Kida's previous residence in Galveston, Japan and Germany and an upcoming trip to Europe.

Interview with O.R. Sparkman, a Marine WWII veteran and POW from Dallas, Texas. Stationed in China before the war, Sparkman was captured in December 1941 by the Japanese in Beijing and interned at various camps in occupied China and Korea before finishing the war at Hakodate, Japan.
