The writer proposes in this study to make a survey of the organization and development of consumer cooperatives in Plano, Texas. Various phases of the development and present status of the consumer cooperatives are to be dealt with including history of organization, financial growth, operating procedure, management, benefits to the community, comparison with Rochdale Principles, and the reasons for the success of the cooperatives in the Plano community.

The general problem to be dealt with in this thesis is that of determining whether the antitrust laws of the state of Texas fulfill their aim of maintaining competition through the prosecution of conspiracies in restraint of trade. The specific problem is the determination of the effect of the antitrust laws on the dairy industry in Texas.

The purpose of this study is to determine the impact of the Second World War upon the agricultural economy of Henderson County, Texas, with primary emphasis upon the economic and social changes brought about by wartime conditions during the years 1940 through 1945.
