The students have been separated into boys and girls, with the girls standing in the center and the boys surrounding them on each side and behind them. The girls wear long, light-colored dresses belted at the waist. The boys wear formal attire. The girls have been identified, from left to right, as unknown, Esther Knudsen, Elna Petersen, Andrea Hansen, Emelia Andersen, Gertrude Strarup, and Christine Olsen. Three names have been provided for the boys but it cannot be stated with certainty to whom they apply. Black, rough patches of paper on the back of the postcard remain on each corner from wherever it was torn out of.

Handwritten on the back of the postcard, "7-29-14 Thanks for very pretty card. Come again with more like it. Sincerely Francy D. Driehs Beaumont Box # 74 Texas." The card is addressed to Harry Kerkow 404 E. Alleghany St. Austin Minn.

View of Washington Street in 1914 looking north. The red brick three stories building on the left was the first “skyscraper” for Beeville. It was the Grand Opera House, built by A.F. Rees and E.J. Kinkler at the corner of Washington and Bowie Streets in 1907, and opened in 1908. Many Broadway stage plays, musical comedies, and light operas were presented in the opera house. The building was destroyed by fire in 1919. The building to the left of the Grand Opera House was Beeville’s first bank, the First National Bank of Beeville, which opened in 1890, and moved to this location by 1894. This postcard shows the modes of transportation available in the early 1900’s, a buggy, automobile, wagon and horse. By 1908 automobiles were owned by several individuals in Beeville.

A set of double doors is behind them and two windows on either side. A church pastor appears to be standing on the top left corner, judging by his outfit. Brian Wind has also been named, but he has not been matched to any individual in the postcard.

Postcard of Beaumont Fire Department's Central Fire Station at Mulberry and Walnut streets with horse drawn fire engines, carriages, and fire fighters. On the left side of the building is a sign for "Entrance, City Hall" and two children sitting near the entrance. At that time the fire department shared the building with city hall. On the right side of the building, on the second story, appear to be legs dangling out of the window. Other buildings can be seen in the background. Printed at the top of the postcard is "Central Fire Station, Beaumont, Texas." Printed on the back of the postcard is the following information regarding the postcard's creation: "Published by S.H. Kress & Co. Made in U.S.A." and "A-466." Handwritten on the back of the postcard, "Beaumont Texas July 26, 14 Mrs. M.E. Postcard at Christmas addressed to John Todd Willis, Sr. from his brother, Robert Parker Willis. John Todd Willis, Sr. worked for the Central Texas Exchange National Bank of Waco.

Postcard allegedly of Colonel Girrard [Girard], 15th U.S. Cavalry. Unfortunately we could not find any corroborating historical information that the Army Officer seen here, on horseback front, is in fact a Colonel Girrard with the U.S. Army ca. 1914. Also, the hand written ink caption on the front of the postcard does not match the original writing by Walter H. Horne himself [ca. 1914]. The ink caption in the front was done at a much later date. If you notice that the letter "y" in the word 'Cavalry' - front side of postcard - does not match with the letter "y" in the word 'yours' - back side of postcard - which was written by Walter H. Horne himself in 1914 as he personally addressed this postcard to Mrs. Henry Horne in Hallowell, Maine. We can only confirm that the 15th Cavalry was in fact in El Paso, Texas during April of 1914. The postcard is post marked April 24, 1914, El Paso, Texas.

Postcard of George O'Brien Millard School with students in front of it. On the right side of the postcard can be seen a statue of George O'Brien Millard and a playground. The George O'Brien Millard School was a public elementary school in Beaumont started about 1910 and sometimes known as just Millard School. George O'Brien Millard was a prominent Beaumont citizen who helped develop the public school system in Beaumont. Printed on the top left of the postcard is "Geo. B. Millard School, Beaumont, Texas." Handwritten on the back of the postcard, "All O.K. Weather perfectly grand and things are lovely. I return to E.T June 12. Wouldn't you like to see me? Love to Aunt Lizzie & all. Hazel." The card is addressed to Mr. James Mortin, Cochituate, Mass.

Several people are on the beach and walking on the sidewalk along the sea wall; parts of the hotel grounds are also visible near the building. The postcard reads, "Dear G. M.: This shows the beach and sea wall and hotel Galvez at Galveston, Tex. All ok here. Hope you enjoyed your vacation. Yours, Walter". The postcard is postdated September 7, 1914.
