On the ground in front of them, there is a cup near the man's feet (at left), a stack of homemade tortillas on top of one of the larger cooking pots, and a coffee pot. The postcard is post marked March 13, 1914, El Paso, Texas. The postcard reads: "Note the 'shoes' on the man. The whole family wore the same kind. Tortillas (corn or flour - water & salt) for dinner. A small ball of dough is slapped into a pancake and cooked on a piece of tin over a camp fire". The postcard is addressed to Mrs. Henry Horne, Hallowell, Maine, Loudeu Hill.

Postcard from Bette to Mr. I. McIngvall, discussing her stay in Boerne, Texas. The postcard features a photograph of long, tall, skinny suspension bridge in Boerne, Texas, made from concrete and metal, and spanning across a large open space between two hills. There are many trees on the two hills and on either side of the bridge. A handwritten note at the top of the photo reads, "We walked here today."

Postcard of a bridge across a river, labeled, "International Bridge over the Rio Grande, Laredo, Texas." Several unknown buildings are visible on either end of the bridge. There is a letter on the back written 3/3/1917 that says, "Wanted to get across this bridge but on account of Typhus Epidemic on other side could not do so. Will cross at Brownsville. Wish you were along." (The epidemic mentioned was in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico.)

Postcard of the soldiers of Section "B" marching on a dirt road at Camp MacArthur in Waco, Texas. A handwritten note on the back of the postcard is addressed to Mr. William Jennings in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and says, "Dear friend, This is [?] life down here and I like it better every day. Am at present (acting) corporal while in the detention camp. Will be assigned to my squad or company when I get out of quarantine. Roland A Bosler. Aviation Camp, Waco, Texas."

Eagan in St. Louis, Missouri to George Pendexter in Austin, Texas discussing the man in the picture on the reverse side of the card; Eagan says that this man is picking up after a "roaring house fire on South Clark St." The photograph shows a fireman rolling up a large fire hose outside of a building.

Postcard from Gus Brown to George Pendexter thanking George for sending him cards of the truck in Dallas, Texas and discussing the recent snow storm. The photograph on the reverse side shows one of the horse-drawn fire wagons, parked in front of the fire station, used by the Springfield Fire Department in Springfield, Ohio; this wagon is being pulled by two horses with two firemen in the driver's seat. There are also two firemen standing on the back of the wagon on the far right of the picture.

Postcard from W. B. Johnston to George Pendexter discussing the flood of 1908 and the possibility of another flood in the spring. The photograph on the reverse side shows the Battle Creek Fire Department during the flood of 1908; most of the firemen are holding long oars as they sit on the back of a wagon. The wagon itself is being pulled by two horses and has the title "Fire Department" written on the side; the water level rises around a half a foot on the wheels.

Postcard from Gus Brown to George Pendexter describing the wagon in the photograph, Brown says "this is a view of old truck at No. 3." He later says that the wagon has been remodeled and moved to another station; the wagon is loaded down with ladders in the back. The photograph shows the wagon sitting outside of the local fire station with a fireman sitting atop the driver's seat and holding the reins.

Postcard from N. M. Wood to George Pendexter concerning the fire department photo collection that he has; Wood mentions that he has over 30,000 photos from all over the world. He notes that the photograph on the reverse side is of the Ottawa Fire Department in Ottawa, Canada. The photograph shows three firemen of Engine Co. 4 standing with their steamer engine in the snow in front of the fire station; the engine has wheels cut in half to act as skis in the snow.

Postcard of TCU's main building after burning in a great fire on March 22, 1910. The stone building's structure was damaged by the fire, most noticeably with a wall and ceiling missing on the far left. The back of the postcard has a handwritten note from its sender, saying "Compliments of Albert Miller."

Postcard from Gus Brown in Springfield, Ohio to George Pendexter in Austin, Texas regarding recent activities and jobs done. The photograph on the back is of one of the fire stations in Springfield; it appears that there is a bell tower on top of the station.

Postcard from W. B. Johnston to George Pendexter describing a recent fire that took place catching multiple buildings on fire and causing around $45,000 in damage. The photograph on the reverse side shows the Battle Creek Fire Department riding through the street during the July 4, 1912 parade. The carriage in the center of the picture is holding a number of ladders on the back end; there are four firemen standing on the carriage as it rolls down the street. A lot of the people in the crowd are holding umbrellas to protect from the sunshine.

Color tinted halftone postcard showing ice and snow on Cold Water Creek, Marshall, Texas. The creek is in the foreground and ice covers the bushes and trees along its banks. Printed on the top of the image is the title, "Scene on Cold Water Creek, Marshall, Texas" and the code 12242. Printed on the back to the left of the message section is the Curt Teich logo of the intertwined letters C T and Co, with Chicago beneath. The postmark on the back is dated Mar 15, 1911, and the card is addressed to Mrs. Joe Roth, Covington, Kentucky.The card was probably published between 1905 and 1908 based on the printed code number.

Black and white halftone postcard of the First United Methodist Church, located at 300 East Houston St., in Marshall, Texas, photographed around 1909. The building was constructed in 1861. It is a front gable brick masonry structure in a Greek revival style with a bell tower and steeple on top of the front gable. The entrance porch has four tapered square brick columns surmounted by a pediment. The view shows the facade and the east side of the building with stained glass windows in the east wall and its raised basement windows visible. There is a two-story house with double gallery to the left of the church behind two trees. At the bottom of the image, printed in black is the title, "First M. E. Church, South, Marshall, Texas." There is a postmark dated March 16, 1910 on the back. The card was addressed to Mrs. Walter U. Buttrell, Longview, Texas.

The image depicts a three-story, red brick building with a sign reading "King's Daughters Hospital" over the porch and a smaller white house partially obscured by the hospital building. The text, "King's Daughters Hospital, Temple, Texas" is printed in the upper right corner of the image. The correspondence on the back is addressed to "Mrs. Marry Skiller" and signed "Aunt Emma."
