The front of the postcard also features a photograph of a grassy field bordering a shaded, wooded area. In the background to the left, beyond a fence, light- and dark-colored cows lay in a field next to a barn. Along the border between the two fields, a person sits on top of a horse, facing towards the woodland area on the right.

Postcard from L. H. Woods to George Pendexter with a photograph of two fire engines working on a fire in Los Angeles, California. Woods notes on the back that these are "Engines three and four working on hose tower," the photo shows the two engines shooting water up into the sky as they fight the fire. There are plenty of spectators and firemen alike standing on the ground watching.

Woods notes the fire on the left is at "8th and Hope St." with Engine 10 working on it, and the fire on the right is at "16th and Hill St." The photo on the left shows a horse-drawn fire wagon with a steamer engine on the back and a number of firemen working with it, the photo on the right is a view looking over a backyard fence to a house with smoke billowing out from the walls.

The photograph on the reverse side of the card shows a large cloud of smoke coming off of a large building that has been burned. The building on the left has had its roof destroyed and some portions of its wall collapsed; the building in the foreground has had its walls damaged and roof destroyed as well.

A handwritten note addressed to Mrs. Clara Aten & Family says "Dear Friends: Just a line to let you know I am well, hope you are all the same, I received your card a few days ago, I'm on my way west, somewhere in Texas now. My new address is on this card. Had a nice trip so far, don't know how the rest of it will be, we have several days riding yet. Write when you can. Nevin."

Postcard from G. O. Schull to Henry H. Himebaugh in San Diego, California. The image on the front of the postcard shows a mill next to railroad tracks, and printed text on the photo identifies the subject as the McFaddin, Kyle & Weiss Rice Mill in Beaumont, Texas. The handwritten message on the back of the postcard is addressed to "Uncle Henry" and says, "I was glad to hear from you. I ought to have answered sooner. It is true we are drifting that way but we are so scattered I don't know whether we could all get there together or not. I have always thought I would like to live in California on account of the climate. I don't think we will remain here much longer but I can't say just where we will go. This leaves us well. I hope it will find you the same."
