[Photograph of the Nancy Jones oak tree and tree house]
Photograph of the Nancy Jones oak tree and tree house. According to the "1996 George Ranch Historical Park Interpreter Training Manual", the tree was planted by Nancy Jones in 1824 and is located in the George Ranch house yard. The tree house was added by Albert Peyton and Mamie George for Mary Jones, daughter of Mamie's cousin Henry Jones. In this photograph, the tree house spiral stairway is blocked by two wooden braces. A long pole is supporting the limb on which the tree house sits (to left). A rope swing is hanging front a branch and visible in center foreground. Partial view of a white wooden building in background. Photo mounted in an ivory on top of gray substrate. Handwritten on back: "taken July 1937"
