Letter from J. L. Kauffman to Daniel and Jeane Kempner asking them to provide some assistance to a recent graduate of Jefferson Medical College who is moving his family down to Galveston. He also provides some updates on his family, how he got his current job and hopes to see the Kempers if they ever come to town. A handwritten postscript reads: "P.S. One of Jefferson's graduates was Dr. Anson Jones, the 'Architect of annexation' and the last president of the Republic of Texas (class of 1827)"
