Newspaper clippings of articles about Dr. May Owen being named President of the Texas Medical Association and a board member of the Woman's Medical College of Pennsylvania. Both articles include information about Dr. Owen's career and accomplishments.

From abstract: The Piedmont Upland in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Delaware is about 160 miles long and at the most 50 miles wide. Rocks that underlie the province are the Baltimore gneiss of Precambrian age and quartzite, gneiss, schist, marble, phyllite, and greenstone, which make up the Glenarm series of early Paleozoic(?) age. These are intruded by granitic, gabbroic, and ultramafic igneous rocks. Most of the ultramafic rocks, originally peridotite, pyroxenite, and dunite, have been partly or completely altered to serpentine and talc; they are all designated by the general term serpentine. The bodies of serpentine are commonly elongate and conformable with the enclosing rocks.

He asks John to write Mr. Peterkin something along the same lines and also ask him about the position he wants for next summer. He mentions that Sandy and Shrub both are both home for holidays and conveys his best wishes for the Christmas and New Year.

Letter from Robert S. Cowperthwaite to Harris Leon Kempner discussing how Sandy made arrangements to send money to Duke. As Sandy was low on money, the school has advanced him $30.00. So, Cowperthwaite mentions that it'd be great if Kempner sends those 30 dollars at his latest convenience.

Letter from Harris Leon Kempner to Sandy regarding the note he received from Mr. Cowperthwaite regarding the $30.00 advance to cover his payment for Duke. So, considering it Kempner encloses a check for $50.00 for Sandy's needs, and if he doesn't he mentions that he could give it back to him once he's in New York.

Letter from Harris Leon Kempner to John P. Herrick letting him know that he phones Mr. Reed on receipt of Sandy's letter. Mr. Reed mentioned that the oil rigs are shut down and there's no job that he could find for John now but it depends on Mr. Peterkin now.

Letter from Harris Leon Kempner to Robert S. Cowperthwaite thanking him for the letter of the 12th. He mentioned that he called Sandy to make arrangements with Robert to pay Duke to bind his admission there. And, Kempner asks Robert to send the bill for whatever he owes.
