Flood-Prevention Projects at Pennsylvania Anthracite Mines: Progress Report for Fiscal Year Ended June 30, 1947
Report issued by the Bureau of Mines over the progress made on flood prevention in anthracite mines. As stated in the report, "the broad objective of the investigative work was to obtain factual data on: 1. anthracite reserves of Pennsylvania, 2. underground water pools, 3. barrier pillars, 4. the "buried valley" of the Susquehanna River, and 5. infiltration of surface water into underground mine workings" (p. 4). Sediment Discharge from Highway Construction Near Port Carbon, Pennsylvannia
This report examines the effects of a highway construction project on suspended-sediment loads, concluding that the construction caused sixteen-thousand tons of sediment to be discharged and produced fifty percent of the total sediment discharge. It contains tables and graphs.

Onionskin paper carbon copy of letter from John J. Herrera, LULAC National President, to Ruth A. Morton, secretary to the American Friends Service Committee in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, dated April 29, 1953. This is a reply to Morton's letter of April 10, 1953, inquiring about the migrant agricultural labor situation in Texas. The American Friends Service Committee offered to help and John Herrera suggests they undertake a program to set up rest stations for migrant workers.
