Handwritten letter from William Katsur to Lt. Comdr. E. E. Roberts. William talks about his return to the United states after the Battle of Samar and the sinking of the U.S.S. Samuel B. Roberts. He is staying at the United States Naval Hospital Annex in Swarthmore, PA while he recovers from his injuries during the battle which include a paralyzed arm. He mentions a doctor in New guinea saved his arm from amputation and that he will be in the hospital for nearly two years, recovering.
