Photograph used for a story in the Oklahoma City Times newspaper. Caption: "Oklahoma City's impending loss of two more of its bridges across the North Canadian river is not generally understood. The bridges-spans across the river at Agnew and S Pennsylvania avenue-won't actually be torn out of permit construction of the river floodway project which is causing the trouble. The structures will remain in their same old positions, ready to handle the traffic when cars can get to them. However, the streets leading to the bridges will be cut by the new floodway channel. This will leave gaps of more than 250 feet to be bridged in each street before the streets can be used. The floodway channel has been designed by the U. S. corps of army engineers to cut across the streets, north of the present bridges. New bridges to span these gaps are estimated to cost more than $1 million. And the money is not available. The city's street and bridge bond issue was defeated in last March's election...........However, Agnew and Pennsylvania bridges will be left to carry traffic over the site of the old channel. The city, for some time at least, will not spend money …
