Seeding was done with a sod disc with about 200 pounds of 5-10-5 fertilizer being applied with the seed. Fifteen pounds of vetch and 2 bushels of oats per acre were seeded in the Bermudagrass sod. Owner Planned to use the oats and vetch as winter grazing for his cattle."

The back of the photograph proclaims, "Range cover evaluation on plot 186, if sand dropseed on Rolling Red Plains deep heavy upland in poor condition, was 49% effective in controlling soil splash. The ruler inserted beneath the cover shows that 42% of the ground surface is shielded by forage and litter.”

The back of the photograph proclaims, "Range cover evaluation plot 184 of buffalograss was 91% effective in reducing soil splash on heavy deep uplands of the Rolling Red Plains. In held 33% of 1.93 inches of water applied in 20 minutes. The plot had 1,408 pounds of cover per acre, providing 77% soils coverage."
