Guthrie real estate developer Lloyd Lentz Jr. says the idea of improving the road began during the unsuccessful campaign for the state senate in 1970...............Meantime, he said Rep. Coffin took the question of improving the road to Gov. Hall where he was told that the Highway department had no money for right of way acquisition......He said Coffin also personally mailed state forms to property owners urged them to donate land for the road improvement project, gratis.
