The 5-11, 178-pound halfback from Providence, R. I., fared much better in his first start at the Univ. of Oklahoma, however, as he scored on his fifth-ever carry versus Iowa State this past Saturday. However, the Cyclones hit him so hard at the goal line, that his helmet popped up into the air. Thompson said he "didn't notice" until someone handed it to him, because he was "pretty excited!"
