Photograph used for a story in the Daily Oklahoman newspaper. Caption: "Crown Heights Methodist church's $3,800 debt to the Methodist Gold Star Memorial librar was squared away Friday. Rev. Ben Sturdivant, right, pastor of the church, hands an $820 check for the balance of Dr. C. Q. Smith, Oklahoma City University president. Oklahoma Methodists need only $100,000 to reach the $500,000 they pledge in 1947 for the memorial to Methodist war dead. The massive building, in the background, is rapidly nearing completion. The exterior is expected to be finished by Christmas. But, the interior and furnishings won't be in place until sometime next year. When completed, the building will represent an investment of well over $1 million."
