Key, Major General, Headquarters Forty Fifth Division, Fort Sill Division Training Center, dated January 5, 1941. Key replies to an inquiry made by Carswell informing him of Army Regulations and "will be unable to avail ourselves of your services".

A Western Union telegram sent to The Governor, State of Colorado, Denver, Colorado, wiht a note that the same telegram was sent to the governors of Arizona (Phoenix), New Mexico (Santa Fe), and Oklahoma (Oklahoma City), from T. N. Carswell, Chairman, Army Day Arrangements Committee, Abilene, Texas, dated March 31, 1941. Carswell issues an invitation to attend Army Day, that "General Key and the Mayor of the City of Abilene join in this invitation."

A letter addressed to the Commanding General, 45th Division, U. S. Army, Fort Sill, Oklahoma, from T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, dated January 2, 1941. A request by Carswell for information regarding supervising or operating the Canteen at the Abilene Camp [Camp Barkeley].

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from George B. Brown, Captain, F. A., Headquarters Forty Fifth Division, Fort Sill, Oklahoma, dated January 7, 1941. Brown advises Carswell that he is replying in the absence of General Key and that the application received from Carswell is being turned over to Col. Miller for his file and consideration.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Carl, Department of History, The University of Oklahoma, Norman, Oklahoma, dated January 13, 1941. Carl advises that Lt. Col. Joe J. MIller was described by Professor Hassler as a man of very high quality. Carl commends the work Carswell is sponsoring describing it as "of the highest quality" then wishes for Carswell the greatest measure of success possible.

A letter written to T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from F. F. Andrews, Post Commander, Havens-Cannon Post 24, West Grade School, Principal, Anadarko, Oklahoma, dated February 15, 1941. Andrews advises of his interest in the Abilene Ministerial Alliance due to two companies out of Anadarko being in the Abilene area. He advises of the enclosed rosters for the two companies explaining that the town and the men's officers are interested in the welfare of the men. Andrews advises of several Indians belonging to the company and suggests, for unusual entertainment, that they be asked to perform some dances in their costumes. He gives assurance they are not looking for special attention for these men acknowledging their understanding that there are 19,000 men that need the attention of the Abilene community. The attached rosters are of Company "F" 120th Quartermaster Regiment and of Battery "B" 158th F.A.; a penciled "a" is by the names of men who are from Anadarko . The reverse side of the roster includes handwritten names and notations. An attached roster provides a listing of names of officers from Anadarko and a postscript by Andrews stating, "These men are worthy of any trust that you may ask …

"This bulletin applies both to the western portions of the United States in which ordinary farm crops are grown largely under irrigation and to western Oregon and Washington where irrigation is not essential for strawberry production but may be profitable. It describes methods practiced in the more important commercial strawberry-growing districts of the West; it aims to aid those persons familiar only with local and perhaps unsatisfactory methods, as well as inexperienced prospective growers. The fundamental principles of the irrigation of strawberries are substantially the same as those of irrigating other crops. Details must necessarily be governed largely by the character of the crop grown. Because strawberries in the humid areas frequently suffer from drought, which causes heavy losses in the developing fruit, the information may prove helpful to many growers in those areas who could install irrigation systems at small expense. This bulletin gives information on soils and their preparation, different training systems, propagation, planting, culture, the leading varieties, harvesting, shipping, and utilization." -- p. ii

Letter from James O. Lewis to Alex Bradford discussing a recently published article by the Houston Chronicle. Along with the mentioning of this article, Mr. Lewis provides a recent update to his current life including the training that he participated in Driffield near Yorkshire County.

Report issued by the U.S. Bureau of Mines discussing the annual report over the research and technology of coal during 1941. As stated in the foreword, "these investigations increase our fund of exact knowledge on the properties and composition of American coals and lead to better methods in mining, preparing, storing, and utilizing coal" (p. 4). This report includes tables, illustrations, photographs, and a map.

Wagstaff, Wagstaff, Harwell, Douthit & Alvis, Abilene, Texas, dated January 8, 1941. The letter introduces Mr. T. N. Carswell, of Abilene, Texas, who wishes to make application for the position of purchasing agent.

A letter written to General William S. Key, Major General 45th Division, Fort Sill, Oklahoma, from T. N. Carswell, Post Commander, dated February 6, 1941. Carswell confirms the plans for the "Defend America" meeting featuring Judge Allen Wight and W. R. White of Hardin-Simmons University as speakers. He requests that Key speak, but if it is not convenient for him to attend, that he ask one of his officers to accept a place on the program instead.

A Western Union telegram sent to T. N. Carswell, Chairman Army Day Committee, from Leon C. Phillips, Governor of Oklahoma, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, dated 1941 APR 7 1008A. Phillips regrets the necessity to decline the invitation to attend the Review offering best wishes and kindest regards.

A letter addressed to the Commanding General, 45th Division, Fort Sill, Oklahoma, from T. N. Carswell, dated January 4, 1941. Carswell advises of a correction to his letter of January 2. He advises that it was written in the interest of himself as Purchasing Agent for the Canteens in the Abilene Camp [Camp Barkeley].

A letter written to Lt. Col. Joe J. Miller, 45th Division Exchange Officer, Fort Sill, Oklahoma, from T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, dated January 10, 1941. Carswell expresses his appreciation for the time given to him by Miller and for the copy of the letter from the Abilene Chamber of Commerce.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Lt. Col. Joe J. Miller by Wayne M. Roberts, Capt. 180th Inf. Ass't. P. O., 45th Division Canteen, Fort Sill, Oklahoma, dated January 13th 1941. Roberts acknowledges his receipt of the letter from Carswell dated January 10th and expresses his appreciation for Carswell's efforts in behalf of the men of the 45th Division.
