Corn, a mennonite community of 600, fourteen miles southwest of Weatherford felt the heaviest force of the blow. the twister demolished 40 homes, the school gymniasum and damaged the town's most beautiful landmark, the newly constructed Mennonite Brethern church. At Colony, a town of about 300, about six miles southeast of Corn, 16 homes were destroyed and another dozen badly damaged. The Colony school and its new gymniasum were demolished by the twisting winds…..Three Oklahoma highway patrol troopers watched the storm strike and moved into Corn before the residents to emerge from their cellars. R.C. Alba and George Walker drove in Corn from Clinton, 20 miles to the northwest in one patrol unit. At the same time Carl Neunschwander, Hobart, trooper drove into corn from the southwest.
