Photograph used for a story in the Daily Oklahoman newspaper. Caption: "Temporary measures were taken this week to telieve the strain on a weakened pier on the S Meridian River Bridge, Jim Godwin, assistant street maintenance chief, said Thursday. Goldwin said permanent work to strengthen the pier, one of several which supports the bridge, will be started next week. He said contractions and expansions of the bridge caused by weather resulted in concrete sheering off the part of the peir on whcih the bridge deck rests. This loss of concrete cause the bridge deck to sink slightly, he said, adding the problem doesn't represent any immediate danger to cars using the bridge. When the top of the pier is rebuilt, Godwin said, the road, which is a major route from I-40 to Will Rogers World Airport, will be closed to allow the concrete to set properly. Godwin said the bridge will be closed at about 1 p.m. Friday, July 11, and remain closed until 7 a.m. the following Monday, July 14. Traffic will be detoured east and west to S. Portland and S MacArthur on W Reno, I-40 and SW 29."

Photograph used for a story in the Oklahoma City Times newspaper. Caption: "Billy Graham crusade was over Monday morning, fresh in the memories of 40,000 Sooners who Sunday night swelled Norman's Memorial stadium with the voices: "I wandered far away from God, but now I'm coming home…Lord, I'm coming Home." As the choir and organ later repeated the sacred music, first scores, then hundreds, left their benches in the University of Oklahoma's concrete monument to football to come forward to profess their surrender to Christ. "Come now," Graham pleaded over the music, "There's still time to give your life to Christ. Come from the top of the stadium...We're going to wait for you..."............"You must now pray: "O, God, Iam a sinner. I acknowledge my sins. I'm sorry for my sins. I turn from my sins. I recieve Christ. I confess Him as my Saviour. From this moment on, O and going to serve Him in his church."
