This study was an investigation of teaching strategies and student outcomes of the drug education program in five pilot schools in Oklahoma as these programs relate to the "ideal" program recommended by drug education experts. This study had a twofold purpose. The first was to determine the differences of the perceptions of students, teachers and administrator toward the drug education program in their own school. The second was to compare this perceived "actual" program with the "ideal" program as described by selected drug education experts. The study centers on five exploratory questions. With the completion of the five exploratory questions, it was concluded that the factors that are descriptive of the "ideal" and "actual" drug education programs can be identified from opinions of persons who have an interest in or responsibility for effective information concerning the drug scene.

This thesis concerns the utility of including the art of hand lettering in a curriculum of a university advertising art program. Data secured from 155 questionnaires sent to 266 advertising firms in five states were analyzed by simple descriptive statistics including frequency counts and percentages. Two hypotheses were examined, and it is concluded that hand lettering is still needed in advertising art and should be taught in university art programs.

The study examines the use of hypnotic audiotapes designed to affect study habits and attitudes. It is assumed that exposure to the hypnotic audiotapes will improve study habits and attitudes. It is further expected that exposure to the audiotapes will improve students' self-concepts and adjustment to college work, as well as reduce anxiety. Previous studies are cited which indicate that hypnosis has had a positive effect on learning. Hypnosis has been shown to be an effective means of changing specific behaviors.

This research represents the first systematic collection of the woody plants throughout the Cross Timbers. It provides the first keys to these plants in their vegetative condition, plant descriptions, distribution maps, and some quantitative measurements used for descriptive purposes. Descriptions of the woody plants were constructed as an aid in verification after a specimen has been identified by use of the keys. The measurements given pertain only to the woody plants as they occur in the Cross Timbers. Distributional maps are provided for all the taxa considered in this research. With the exception of those species which have the ecological amplitude to grow throughout the Cross Timbers, the distribution of the majority of the remaining species seems to be most strongly influenced by average annual precipitation. In a few instances, conditions associated with latitude appear to govern the distribution of species or varieties within the Cross Timbers. Throughout the Cross Timbers, post oak (Quercus stelta), blackjack oak (Quercus marilandica), and hickory (Caraa texan) dominate the upland forests. Distributional data and taxonomic keys art presented for thirty-four species of Plecoptera known to occur in Oklahoma. Ten species are new records for the state. Descriptions are provided for two species new to science, Zealeuctra cherokee and Isoperla brevis, and for the previously unknown male of Strophopteryx cucullata Frison and female of Helopicus nalatus (Frison).

The problem with which this investigation is concerned is whether or not dogmatism and neuroticism in supervisors of sheltered workshops is related to changes in the self-concept of handicapped employees. The measurements of dogmatism and neuroticism were accomplished through the use of Rokeach's Dogmatism Scale, (form E) and Winne's Neuroticism Scale. Pitt's Tennessee Self Concept Scale was used to measure the self-concept of the handicapped employees.

The problem of this study was the development of a proposal for an industrial arts program for Langston University. Particular emphasis was placed upon curriculum changes, faculty improvement, and modification of physical facilities.

This study is an examination of the theatre project at Tsa La Gi, a Cherokee cultural center in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. The thesis is organized into three areas: the drama, the theatre design, and the production techniques. Chapter I reports the process of the formulation of Trail of Tears and analyzes its success. Chapter II describes and interprets the process of the design of the physical theatre. Chapter III reports the techniques used in play production at Tsa La Gi and interprets their effects. Chapter IV presents conclusions about the success of the theatre project. This report accepts evidence that the theatre project at Tsa La Gi is a highly successful one, both economically and artistically.

An analysis and correlation of phytoplankton communities with physicochemical data from 3 sites in Lake Texoma was conducted to supplement time-series data. Water and phytoplankton were sampled monthly, March, 1976-February, 1977. Simple correlations were run between all physicochemical parameters and phytoplankton standing crop from the 3 sites. Multiple linear regression analyses were used to develop equations predictive of phytoplankton standing crop and chloride concentration. Minerals leached from marine sediments in the Red River chennel contribute to formation of a, halocline which seals the anoxic hypolimnion from the reservoir surface in midsummer. Conductivity decreased west to east, 2980-1800. pmhos/cm. Maximum mean annual phytoplankton standing crop in Red River arm was 36 percent greater than midlake. Eutrophication was evident.
