Professor Crate discusses the results of various fossil and artifact finding expeditions around the Hill Country of Texas, specifically the numerous burned rock mounds found in the Kerry County area. He includes his opinions on why and how the burned mounds were created. As noted in the transcript, the interview continues in the manuscript of Professor Crate's wife, Melba Lee Williams Crate.

A handwritten note on the back of the photograph reads, "The old Palace of the Governor, oldest Govt. Bldg. in U.S. Built about 1600, occupied by all Governors up to 1890. In this bldg. Gov.
