Interview with African American North Texas State University alumnus James Gayle. The interview included Gayle's personal experiences of childhood, playing basketball at Fort Worth's all-black Terrell High School, attending North Texas and enrolling in the ROTC program, and his experience as a boarder in "Shack Town" neighborhood of Denton. Gayle talks about the comparison of race relations in Artesia, New Mexico, and Waco and Forth Worth, Texas, the "neutral" stance of NT administration toward black students and the "self-support" system among students, as well as his relationships with professors and white students, and his perception of what he gained from his NT experience.

Audio log for a recording of an interview with Cameron Lowry, member of the United States Army and Texas National Guard, and ROTC recruiter. In the interview he discusses his decision to join the army, experiences at the New Mexico Military Institute, being stationed in Kuwait, missions with the Texas National Guard, and position as an ROTC recruiter at the University of North Texas. Burns discusses the fall of Bataan and his capture, the Bataan Death March, Camp O'Donnell (1942), Cabanatuan (1942-1944), Bilibid Prison, Manila (1944), the hell ship to Japan (1944), Moji (1944-1945), A-bomb damage at Nagasaki, and his liberation.

Interview with Albert Thorn concerning his experiences before, during, and after his employment in the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Great Depression. Thorn worked at camps in Lake Arthur, New Mexico (Company 2842) and Carlsbad, New Mexico (Company 2842).
