Ensemble of brown leather with suede side out; (a) Blouse with wide v-neckline leading into asymmetrical five button front closure; dropped shoulders; seam with tucks at front; seam at elbow and 7 tucks going verticle down side seam; center back seam; and neck facing; (b) skirt with facing; lacing down center front and waist is long and slightly flared; divided in 3 horizontal sections creating a chevron at center front and back; back center zipper closure lined in brown silk. Woman's three piece ensemble of off white leather with headband. A) Jacket styled with curved center front opening with closure by three bead trimmed leather ties; no collar. Curved yoke front and back. Long, full two piece fitted sleeves. Flared lower portion of panels with deep scalloped hemline. Whip-stitched edges. Trimmed at yoke with glass beaded butterflies (colors include blues, purples, pinks). At yoke seam and inner sleeve seam, row of large glass and ceramic beads (blues, purples, pinks, clear). Leather fringe below yoke and outer sleeve seam. Before being cut, the fringe was printed in butterflies in colors of pale blues, purples and yellows. Unlined; shoulder pads. Length: 23" (59.0cm). Designer's label at center back neckline: "Gossamer Wings / 8 / Del Mar Calif." B) Skirt. Medium-long length. Flared four panel skirt with narrow fitted waistband. Woman's two piece suit of bright violet blue suede. A)Jacket styled with two piece convertible collar and center front opening with two round covered buttons; curved lower edge. Full sleeves with tucked caps and ruffled cuffs with suede bow and tie and rosette of beading at knot. Princess seams front and back bodice. Swirled line of glass bugle and round beads in colors (includes blue, pink, and bronze tones) from one side front to other, behind neckline. Beading also at rosettes behind collar base and opening edge to curve. Fully lined with pale blue dobby dot patterned silk lining fabric. Total length: 24 " (62.3cm). Designer's label at center back neckline: "Gossamer Wings" B) Skirt. Medium length. Straight cut three panel skirt gathered to fitted waistband. Straight hemline. Center back plastic zipper closure with one covered button at waistband. Unlined. Total length: 24"(61.0cm). C) Cummerbund style belt. 3" (7.6cm) wide with five length-wise tucks. Audio interview from the Wes Phelps Podcast Interviews Collection recorded during August 18th, 2022 in Glorieta, New Mexico. Phelps interviews Charolette Taft on her experiences as a Dallas spokesperson and activist in the 1970s during the emerging women's rights movement. Taft speaks on her involvement in the custody case of Mary Jo Risher, a lesbian woman who lost custody of her young son to her ex-husband. She continues to discuss her experiences running the Routh Street Women's Clinic in Dallas and her extensive political involvement in the Women's and Gay Rights movements. They continue on to discuss the modern implications of the overturning of Roe v. Wade and it's implications towards cases such as Texas v. Morales.
